Funnily enough just had my one on one with another of my bosses last count I had 6 direct reporting managers all in the USA :smt017
I was asked to submit a teleworking agreement as working from home is a privilege and has to be documented...
Fair enough says I but you are only allowed to do that if it is for the same day of the week each week
correct
but I only work from home when I have hospital appointments scheduled so I don't have to take the day off
thats not the way it should be done you will have to take the day off!
ok but you do realise that under my UK contract I don't lose any time for that ?

ok well I have physical therapy for the next 6-10 weeks so guess I'll be on a 4 day week then :smt017 :smt017

you can't make this up I know am going to be getting overtime on a 4 day week plus I have 2 years holidays I haven't taken so its looking like a short term contract to boost the coffers or a winter in Havana sipping rum and mooching about on Che's old runabout :smt003

That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Sure - I believe that does go on in some places, though I've never ever done that. I really would not feel at all comfortable doing so ... and even if I did I guess that I have a responsibility to set a good example to the staff.
TBH we've a very committed team and a very low staff-absence ratio

That's a bit different to us. Sick leave is allowed but for doctors/dentists/hospital appointments or any other absence, you have to make the time back up - and the many many hours of (unpaid) overtime that you've put in beforehand don't count towards the making it back up.

Years ago when I was under notice of redundancy I was told I could take as much time off as I needed for job interviews and I sneaked an extra one just so I could go somewhere - I felt so bad about it I didn't enjoy my day and have never done it again!

I have been working 60-80 hors a week get paid for 37.5 and not had a day off sick in the 3 +years I have been there. I work from home and just take a break to go to the doctors etc then carry on working till late.

Just a case of cultural misunderstanding as she now assumes I will take a days holiday to go to the doctor.So gfar I have 40+days accrued as after the 1st year of carrying them ove you lose them.

We have been woreking 14 hour plus days from April to May including getting a couple of hors kip on the desks on more than one occasion so no I don't think I would feel too guilty as they dont mind calling me on weekends etc and evenings

That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

No choice most of the time ..... though I do wonder whether it contravenes the minimum wage regulations as unpaid=below the minimum.

I had a further meeting today a team meeting on the phone and mentioned that she may be under some misaprehension as she insisted I had to use a days holiday to go to the doctors so we left it as she will check with the US HR which of course she will forget to do so :smt003 so I could be on to a winner here as I get another holiday entitlement in January that I wont be able to take so I reckon between physio and doctors appointments and taking every friday off with leave days :smt003 :smt005

Even better SWMBO has suggested I ride down to the family in Barcelona instead of getting the plane :smt007 (I volunteered to help bring the fruit harvest in as they have a problem this year)

OK .... now it's getting silly.
The day before yesterday my solicitor contacted me to report that on the accident I had 2 yrs ago, the 3rd party insurers have downgraded their offer from 70/30 in my favour to 50/50 - goodness knows why when the other chap was clearly to blame.

Today I seem to have lost a lot of vision in my right eye - the one I was getting occasional flashes in following the assault. Off to A&E now to get it checked.
