TwinNut - I didn't mean anything against Preston!! I meant I wouldn't expect him to ride from Suffolk to Preston to help me out.
Well, I'm definitley on the right forum, dead helpful lot aren't you.
So I'll check the Northampton one out on my tod first on Sunday. If I like it enough to consider purchasing then I'll give you a shout HisNibbs to ask you for a second opinion if that's ok.
Failing that one I'll buy the one at Shorrocks, nice to know they're a dealer I can trust with a recommendation from a local.
Hopefully the yellow one will be agreeable as I will now need to spend money on new kit. My previous kit along with 2 helmets have been in storage boxes in my cellar for 18 months. Pulled it out last night. Boxes not airtight, everything mouldy. Inside my helmets, back protector, gloves. Can't bring myself to check my beloved SIDI Couriers...

The wife has just thrown the cat amongst the pigeons
Why don't you just buy a brand new bike darling on HP, all your 2nd hand ones have been nightmares..
Christ, I'm now a bit over excited. Still going to check the Falco out tomorrow though.
Am I still allowed to be a member if I don't get a Falco??? I'd still like to buy you lot a beer for all the help and advice.
I quite like the look of the BMW F800R, or is 'BMW' a swear word on here?

right, I've made a decision and I don't think I'm going to be too popular.
Honda are doing a 0% finance deal for 42 months.
I am therefore going to buy a new CBF1000 or a CB1000R. The CBF would be amore sensible option for what I need it for but christ the R is a nice looking bike
If I'd had better luck in the past with used bikes then I wouldn't be so nervous.
Thanks for all your help.
I'd like to come on a rideout if you're all planning one and that's if non Aprilias are allowed...

You're still allowed to join in the fun .... but seriously, if you are definitely going to get something else, don't go for a ride on a Falco .... it'll leave you wondering whether you've done the right thing for ever more.
BTW I think it was Pete that said he knew of the whereabouts of a brand new unused Falco .........

I agree totally. I've cancelled tomorrows trip. I can still say I've ridden a Falco though. I did ride one round a car park!!
Have just booked a test ride on a CBF1000 next Saturday and a CB1000R. I bet I plump for the R despite knowing the F is by far the best option for what I need a bike to do

Mmmmm. Yes, I see your point and I may well make you right down the line.
I need to try and be sensible though. All used bikes I've bought have cost me loads of money because I'm sh1t with bikes. One of these hondas will be pretty painless on the money front as I'll be paying between £135 - £165 a month after a £1000 ish deposit and the CBF will do exactly what I need it to do.
However, if all goes to plan with my new job down the line there is no reason why I can't have a second bike as a 'toy' alongside the CBF work tool and that may well end up being a Falco.
If the purchase is made I will change my username to BoringTw*t if that appeases you

Hi Sfoley1,
Falco's are a pretty solid second hand buy. You could be unlucky I suppose but you could also be unlucky with a new bike. Then there's the depreciation...
Just think in two years time the Honda will also be second hand, have cost loads of money and probably will not be in better condition or be worth a lot more that the the Falco.
TwinNuts point is valid though, it is horses for courses. The Falco would do all you ask of it but as I said before, for what you are proposing to use it for, it could do with small mostly ergernomic changes.
Either way all the best to you and good luck with your new bike.

Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today
What he said, get an FZ1 Fazer, way more fun than the dull CBF and more practical than the CB1000R.

Yamaha also have 0% on the go at the moment so I'll have a go on one of those too, it looks very tasty in that pic TwinNut, is that yours?
The CB1000R is very tempting. I know it's less practical but I've been thinking hard today about what I'm actually going to use a bike for.
Round commute of 60 miles every day is a deffo. It will either be across London or round the M25. At the 7.30am - 9am slot on either route the traffic is going to be heavy so the nimbleness (is that a word??) of the CB1000R will fit the bill. In all honesty the wife probably came out with me half a dozen times in 12 months on the VFR and most of those were a few miles back from central london when she'd been out on the p*ss or there was a tube strike. The other use was going to be for the odd blast to back home in Dorset, and again that is going to happen perhaps, 3 or 4 times a year so I can put up with the neck ache and the neck ache stops the licence shredding. As for the pipe dream of doing a trip to Europe that is not going to happen with my new job.
So, I do agree with the comments about how bland the CBF is and I will get bored with it so I think the R is a better option. I don't care about the depreciation, I care about the affordability each month and a 42 month 0% finance deal is a bit too good to ignore, maybe worth compromising on the bike choice?
