You could of course get an IL4 as well as the Falco, then rename yourself as 4TwinNut (or something like that)TwinNut wrote:dddoooohhhhhhhh!!!! I saw the light just in time..........D-Rider wrote:You mean the same TwinNut that only a few months back we had to talk out of chopping in the Falco for some I4 ?
My friend, the first drink is on me.........D-Rider wrote:.... and, yes, we do need TN in the mix - where else am I going to find someone with impeccable tastes in football as well as motorcycles?

I understand where you are coming from but (with lazy mode engaged) doing this would be a heck of an increase in workload for the moderators .......
I'd have thought it much easier in the first place to have posted them up in the places they might get moved to.
It shouldn't be hard to find the new posts wherever they are - they flag themselves up in orange

You're right Andy, that's one of the reasons I thought of it as a compromise, although as NOOJ says it covers most other peoples issues.
Would be interested to hear what Kwacks thinks about my view that the more we spread the Falco stuff about, the more we look just like a Falco site and I can see how he might have an issue with that, as Falcos are no longer made and we will all have to move on.
Does anybody else think, like me, that we should have more individual sections for other bikes and keep all the stuff in their own individual boxes, Falcos included.
We could still have general sections for technical stuff, like the recent "best tyres for sporting twins thread", or whatever it was, before all the Falco people replied.
I don't think any of us from the old site want to take over here, and feel most would be happy to see it grow to cover other bikes. There will always be people looking for other info like todays thread asking for info on the Fazer thou.
What do you reckon Kwacks? (hope I haven't upset you, it certainly wasn't intended that way).

There is an option on the main page, top right (and the top level "Forum" page) to "View posts since last visit", this then brings all of the new posts onto one page for your perusal, no matter which forum they're from.D-Rider wrote:It shouldn't be hard to find the new posts wherever they are - they flag themselves up in orange
For me, it it's Falco-related, I would probably post it in the Falco forum (i.e. group buy for a new tail-light lens for the Falco, subsequent fitting instructions, or the age old "best Falco tyres" or "fastest colour" debates) and this would include a specific "what parts fit here", I wouldn't automatically think "Aprilia Technical" - because it's not, it's Falco Technical (tbh the Aprilia Technical section is perhaps a bit broad, might be better if it was a sub-divided forum with specific Falco, RSV, RS sub-forums?). If I'm wrong, so be it - the mods would move it, they'd tell me and I'd know better for next time (although I might disagree with the reasoning and say so

I have also noticed a lot of posts which are very non-Falco specific being posted in the Falco section - i.e. "Great Trip!", "Doing a trackday" or "Helmet Prices" - not even Aprilia-specific! (no offence to the original posters!) that haven't been moved... I guess it seems strange that a Tech question has been moved, but a clothing question hasn't.
I've yet to see a "what we say goes, get off the train if you don't like it" kind of statement - and I don't expect to. But I do expect that there will be guidelines so we all get the best out of the site, and ensure the future of the site
The lack of movement of badly located posts is down to poor moderation - hold my hands up. The recent purge has been led by admin trying to wake us up a bit. Clearly it's not been done on a 'move the least appropriate first' principle - and there's no reason it should.Firestarter wrote: I have also noticed a lot of posts which are very non-Falco specific being posted in the Falco section - i.e. "Great Trip!", "Doing a trackday" or "Helmet Prices" - not even Aprilia-specific! So apologies for the inconsistency - that's there as I've not been moving things as much as I should.
There is no intention of a 'put up or shut up' approach. People are only trying to make things better. This has certainly stimulated debate as to what is "better" and that's a subjective thing. I think it's also helped some of us to realise we need to not only look at today but prepare for the future.
I'm quite happy to have a debate and as long as the outcome is logical, meets our needs and our longer term aims, then I'm sure we'll achieve a concensus and can generate some fairly acceptable ground rules (these will only help mods to sort things out).
I think that we're now beginning to find our way through this one - at least, I hope so!
Yup, know what you mean FireStarter.
The cross over between the two sites is the main problem, we never said it'd be easy and it isnt.
I think D-Rider covered most of the points I had in my head in his last post

Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly
One thing I have noted, there are a number of technical posts (suspension settings for one) that have been moved from other forums into the "Falco" forum...
Au contrair. The 'Moved' bit in the forum thread listings means it's gone from Falco to Tech ( I'll find an example. )
Look on the Falco forum, Page 4, the thread entitled
When you click thru to that thread, see the top and look at where it is:Moved: White & Yellow Spring Sachs Shocks
RiderSite.com Forum Index -> Aprilia Technical
Mods, can you uncheck 'leave shadow topic on old forum' when moving posts please.

Hehehe, that's the example I was using - didn't realise that it was a link to the post on Tech rather than the actual post moved into the Falco forumKwackerz wrote:One thing I have noted, there are a number of technical posts (suspension settings for one) that have been moved from other forums into the "Falco" forum...
