Just had a reply from Beowulf:
Hi
Thank you for your enquiry.
The packing usually lasts a good 10-15,000 miles on a V-Twin.
However, this would be covered by the lifetime guarantee.
Didnt say which model of Can
Looks like Beowulf are the ones to go for then! Most manufacturers aim about the 5k mark. 15k from a Beowulf sounds fantastic!
(Sounds... geddit...?) I assume that means the packing is free of charge on Beowulfs

OK, I think I need to have a closer look then. Will I be able to see any packing that
may be there from the outside?
I will remove a baffle and shine a torch....... if it ever stops raining

I would doubt it to be honest.
*edit*
Wrote lots, edited latercos I thought i'd seen the type you've got fitted elsewhere on the forum..
Ah theyre roadlegal racecans then.. (removable baffles) Ah perfectly clear now!
Have they gotten louder / hotter since youve had them? if so then yeah they may need repacking (free under your lifetime warranty by the sounds of it)
Im still impressed with 15k on a big V twin.

+73 on Blue Flames (single port, ti ovals) best looking and best quality I reckon. In road-legal guise they're nice and sweet and deeper than standard but utterly Lancaster Bomber without the baffles in.......bit too loud for a neighbourhood conscious fella like myself.

I'm intrigued by the comments so far, I also have Beowulf, so interested in what you see with the torch.
Don't think the comments are as simple as stated so far.
I have a road legal race can I use on my old CBR1000F for MOTs. Never had it apart but it is very restrictive and the baffle on the end seems to be some sort of continous unit that starts at the incoming end. Lose about 10bhp min, when I put it on, so only for MOTs.
The baffle on my Beowulf titanium ovals is only about 3 inches long with a slight bend in it and doesn't seem to do anything at all other than look more legal for plod.
The construction looks to me as if it has the standard race can packing around the usual perforated tube.
Be interested to know what you find in the Beowulfs as I thought they had packing.

I'd say the Renegade big bore headers and cans are the best. They look and sound better than the stock set up and the bike certainly goes better with them fitted.
They get rid of the huge metal colon of the original headers and the end cans are finished very well. Nowhere on them does it say 'not for road use', but they are very loud, especially at higher revs, so MoT types and Plod may not like them much.
The Wolf carbon cans I have are ok for the price and do sound good, but in the grand scheme of things the build quality is pretty shoddy. They do have smart removable baffles with the aprorpiate BS stamp on them for MoT time though. It shouldn't be too hard to get them to fit the Renegade cans either.

As promised I removed a baffle ( just a 5 inch long piece of crimped tubing) and took a look inside. Yes it looks as though my Beowulfs have got some form of packing. It is contained within a perforated inner skin that lines the pipes. I've no idea what the packing material is but by the look of some of the strands poking through the perforations I'd guess at a glassfibre type of material.
It doesn't look as if re-packing would be possible without drilling out the rivets holding the ends in place so let's hope the manufacturer's longevity claims are genuine. 7000 miles so far!

Thought that's what you'd find. Mines done 8,400 on the cans. Can't detect any increase in noise, but then again suffered ear damage the first day I fitted them! Have always found them loud enough for me with the baffles in, as mentioned before when go out with son-in-law with his R6 plus Aka system, he can't hear his bike for the Falco. I would guess it's pretty standard packing and you would only be able to refill by drilling out the rivets. If I ever consdered doing it I would check the price with Beowulf first as they are a very friendly company to deal with and I would guess that rather than just opening up one end pushing in new packing, you would probably take it apart fully an wrap it around the perforated tube before refitting the outer sleave, but could be wrong.

I've had my RSC cans on the bike from about 6000 miles. The bike has now done 26,000. That's 20,000 miles and the RSCs are still going strong, with no problems on the carbon failing front.
They're a bit noisy because they have no baffling other than the perforated tube and packing. Could probably do with repacking, I'll get around to it at some point.

Same as BenWah.
The cans have been on for over 25K and they still look good. I've been thinking I should repack them but drilling out and re rivetting seems a bit of a palava.
When passing those who want to be obeyed and in residential areas I just try and keep the noise down by short shifting etc.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

Ditto to both the above, I had the RSC's up to swapping over to the single can set up and they were fine., loud but great and the quality was 100% as well. Me, I'm running Leo's again on the new "T" and although these are the cheap alloy ones as opposed to my previous Titanium number, they sound great without being too loud but I buy them because they do work especially on the T, this thing power wheelies for fun.
I'm a bit suprised to read that Pete wasn't a fan because the power delivery on my old Falco was as smooth as silk, but I haven't run the Renegade cans so can't compare them like he can.
Personally, I've always felt a race can is a pipe with as big a hole as the manufacturer can get away with in it!, mucho air & fuel in and mucho exhaust gasses out, will always work (within reason of course), the rest is down to quality and fittings
