I just asked a mate of mine about the DVLA database, he works for Hyundai UK so has a bit of access.

Unfortunately he doesn't have the required access through work to narrow it down to colours, but did tell me that at March this year there were only 278 Falco's registered in the UK.

Sorry this isn't more use to you wayofthedarkhand but interesting all the same.

His figures fit well with what you see on http://howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%9 ... lia+sl1000

The Hawk is an endangered species.

Oddly the RSV 1000 (non R) is more rare.

Nod carl

our donor bikes are getting scarce - but i believe the security in hobbiton is a touch short so.....

The bike has been taken away for inspection.

The other guy got in touch with me last night. Didn't really say anything.

I told him that the insurance will deal with it considering the cost of the damage.

On a separate note. The DVLA have acknowledged my request. The reference number is FOIR3043.

As it's an easy one, we should hear back in a few weeks.

that's good news, if there are only 6 it should really help your case, plus we'll have a confirmed figure.

3rd party insurers just called.

Offering to take over the claim i.e repairs (or obviously payout in the case of a write off), sort out the courtesy bike etc.. So it looks like the guy has admitted he's at fault.

Now do I accept their offer or stick with Carole Nash/BLD?

The reason they called is obviously because it's cheaper for them to get it all sorted now that blame has been established, so saves them money, but it should have it's benefits.

Cash incentive (made me laugh)
Quicker repairs/write off
Hire bike that's not on a credit hire agreement

They use a company called Hexagon for assessment and hire vehicles. Anyone heard of them?

Sound like a couple of questions for TC there. :smt001

Caz nash were absolutely wank at handling my claim when a moped was stolen. proper absolute dogwank. Ended up sorting everything myself. Cut out CN and deal direct with the insurer

Speak to TC is always said, almost as though he is the Messiah.. but is always fruitful to do so. He is a legend when it comes to problems, claims and 'the system' and he is genuinely a top bloke. All insurance packages should come with a TC hotline number..

Recorded the conversation with the 3rd party insurers. They've admitted full liability.

I've got a bike on credit hire from CN - bandit 1250, but am having this taken away and the 3rd party insurers delivering a VFR800. costs them about £30 less a day.

Getting a cheque for £100 as a goodwill gesture.

The bike is being assessed by BLD at the moment. Then I can make a decision on repairs or be prepared to argue my case for how much Oasis Green Falcos are worth in the retail market.

Am I right in assuming that the Oasis Green colour codes aren't available?

Colour codes in general are not available - Aprilia has never released them.

Somehow the odd codes are available for a few Aprilias but I don't think anyone has ever got hold of one for a Falco.
People have to go to decent paint shops and ask them to match.

I think, and i could be wrong on this BUT

the oasis green panels are the only ones available off the shelf in noale (Tank, fairing etc)

The paint code is not available for the oasis green

Confirmed. Write off.

i don't have any more details yet as it's currently in the process of being passed from my insurer's to the third party's for their inspection.

Got a collection of ads showing low mileage 04 falcos from £3-£3.5k in case they decide to argue on cost. Plus add some on for the rare colour.

If anyone works in the trade and has access to the Glass Guide, i'd love to know what it reckons they are worth. Obviously i'm due the retail price, not the trade price, but it would be a nice guide.

You mentioned previously about getting the bike back. I spoke to my mate at the weekend and he said some insurance companies have a policy of not directly returning bikes and that you have to tell them you want it and sort it through the salvage company. Might be worth checking or looking into.

Gutted for you it's a write off, but let's be honest we all knew it would be due to the cost of parts, not that it makes it any nicer.
