Thanks Aladdin. Panniers: Hard are preferred so I can leave them on the bike if needed.
A Givi Wingrack can be made fit reasonably easily. You need their universal fitting kit for the bottom and then fabricate some kind of spacer to fit the sides onto the bolt where the pillion handles fit.
I have some photos of the setup that I made somewhere. I was in itially a bit dubious about how strong they may be, especially after a few hundred miles of vibration but they have been fine so far and with the whole bike dropped onto the panniers just slightly bent one so obviously pretty strong.
Racing is life - anything before or after is just waiting.

Or an alternative to what back_marker suggests;
Get a job that involves overnight stays away, and set up a standing order to another account for you expenses and night out money, then end off year, a nice little earner to spend as you wish.
Well thats my plan

Bit of background.. been a bike nut since I first rode a field bike on the pit hills near home years ago.
The first bike that ever made me want to rob banks was the Guzzi Le Mans series 1. Saw one in Eddies M/c's in Leeds back in '78 or thereabouts.
Managed to get a mk 2 earlier this year and a guy has converted it to a Mock 1 whilst I'm stuck out in the desert... it was in Classic Bike this month and won me 20 quid in the star fixed bit. Looks like that's already spent on Falco stuff.
The Guzzi:

I used to have a Multistrada out here and I am inducted in the mysteries of the desmo (no dealer service here). I have a tolerant wife as well:
I used to ride in the desert and had a KTM 450 but swapped that for the Ducati after I was boiled alive on the Riyadh Rally. It seemed like a good idea at the time though.

+2 on liking the Guzzi. They're a very honest-looking motorbike. Do a job and no messing about...
A mate of mine is after a MkII 850 Le Mans. Unfortunately I think it will be a costly exercise...

any one else scared to click on the link to john's pussy?
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

It looked a bit of a Mary Hinge so I didn't bother...

Hi irich
It was a ride on a mates rather special Mk1 Guzzi that made me sell my R90's to buy a new Mk5 back in the late 80's. I really should have kept the R90 and got a nice Mk1 as well! My Mk5 was built when I think they were all looking out for their jobs. Any way sold that about 15 years later to get the Falco.
I now have a R100RS as well to share the mileage and give me a more comfortable ride in the winter.
I like your choices and welcome to the forum.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

Aww thanks. It quite like the Guzzi. Plenty of lounging opportunities. Not so keen on modern stuff though. Or topboxes.
Where ever I lay my hat.....

But it was an Italian classic!
With lots of unpronounceable add ons all held together with duct tape, dexion, pigeon shit welding and exhaust clamps.
The pussy is just your basic pussy.
