Not there?

#32 Post by Kenif » Thu Apr 05, 2007 1:46 pm

No worries Gio, it's always easier making a tit of yourself when you don't think anyone is looking!

Incidentally, oil light kept flickering on this morning, every time I came to a stop. Checked oil levels and they are perfect.
Think this is just a blip caused by thrashing the bollocks off it yesterday or symptomatic of a more expensive problem? :smt017

I'd be concerned, its an oil pressure light, not an oil level light

Mine did that at about 15000 (30000 now). Turned out the pressure switch was weeping. Mind you, thats the one and only thing to fail me on the Falco - luv 'em :smt007

Switch

Will pull the switch thingy at the weekend and test it. Hopefully nothing a bit of sellotape can't fix...

I should have been clearer. It wasn't the fit of the switch into the motor that leaked, it was the switch itself. Its made by rolling a lip over the top and the oil was weeping out of the top of the switch where the lip is supposed to bite onto the plastic.

Only cure was a new switch. Forget getting on from Aprilia (no body seems to stock it). Its exactly the same switch in the Ducati's

Switch

Don't worry, I really was joking about the sellotape (this time) :smt002
Pulled the rubber cover thingy off yesterday and noticed the connection was really loose. Rather than use up a whole year's engineering expertise in one go, I just gave it a wee squeeze with the pliers (the connector that is) and tried that. Well, seems to have done the trick, no more flickering lights at low revs. :smt001
The switch was changed over about two years ago though (it was leaking) so it might be up for another one soon as gone over the 20k mark.
How are your experiences with the Duke version? Was it better/worse/cheaper etc?

Exactly the same part down to the ID numbers on the side only a lot, lot cheaper and easier to get
