They will still release details over the phone to people directly involved (hence certain questions are asked) but you are right in that it is generally insurers and law firms who will make the request, and a copy of the file will be released at the conclusion of the case after a payment of around £60 has been paid.

Hence my original statement when I said that it was not D-Riders job to do all the chase ups, that is what the insurance companies are paid to do :smt009

Yep - and now that I have the details of the 3rd party, as soon as the bank holiday is over I shall forward these to my insurers together with my account of events plus pictures of the scene.

Many thanks to everyone for their helpful advice.

Guess in many ways I'm fortunate that this is all "new territory" to me.

Been to see the doc again - Mrs insisted I go as my sick note had run out and I think she doesn't want me to loose the holiday I'd previously booked off for this week (guess she's got some jobs lined up for me ....)

Anyway, this time I saw our actual doctor rather than a locum. The reason I usually avoid our normal doctor is that she always runs very late. I had a 6pm appointment so went up to the surgery at 7:45. Got in to see her about 8:45 ......

Anyway, after a lecture about how absolutely stupid people are who ride motorcycles, she checked me out and took my blood pressure ... it's a bit up so I've got to keep a record of it and take that back to her in a week ... she wonders if it's related to my headaches ...
She also fed back the results of the blood tests she sent me for a year or so ago .... which are all fine and she really can't understand how my cholesterol is so remarkably low.
Anyway, that all done, I thought I'd ask how long I should wait before riding my bike again.
She told me that from the date of the accident I should wait at least 6 weeks - preferably 8.

..... so that's a major improvement on the previous suggestion of 12 weeks.

perhaps you forgot to mention to her that i thought a catheter would help your headaches?

so you told your wife she had said six weeks I assume?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

No I didn't mention your "quack cure" to her.

The Mrs is visiting her parents at the moment .... but I did take the opportunity to phone her to let her know the good news.

Oh yes - and the next time someone tries to tell me how dangerous motorcycles are I really will have to strongly make the point that my accident shows that it is cars (or, more precisely, poorly driven cars) that are the things that are so dangerous.

..... and today my 6 weeks was up and I celebrated being allowed to ride again by going for a ride (to the Heart of England Motorcycle Show).
It was, of course, really good to get out on two wheels again .... even if every car waiting at a junction scared me sh#tless .... and the one that pulled out (but turned the other way and didn't even cross my path) nearly induced a heart attack.
Though apart from a heightened car-fear it was really great to be out there again.
