VFR750FR - in red of course. I've just had the suspension sorted by Maxton, got braided hoses, taper roller bearings, full stainless with carbon micron can, and have been told officially by the VFRclub that I'm mad as a hatter to consider swaping the VFR for a Falco. I know the VFr is a damn fine bike but having a bike isn't necessarily just a head decision is it...............otherwise Ducati's would never sell :smt003 :smt003 (Had one of them too in the 80's, but just prefer Aprilia's these days).

Yes, well they would say that, wouldn't they? There are a number of ex-VFR riders on this forum (I'm sure Howard is one) and I would never knock a VFR, as they are damn fine bikes.

Ever since owning a Ducati (an 888 SP3) I've always loved the way a V-twin delivers its power. V-fours are definitely the next best thing, but you can't beat 'the hand of God' in the small of your back as you grunt out of a corner on a V-twin.

For me the Falco was the perfect choice, as it combined the practicality and build quality of the VFR with the soul and involvement of a Ducati. And before I get lynched by the Aprilia-philes on the forum, it doesn't just combine the two experiences, but improves on them and moves the game on. It's also a great bike to mod and dabble with, as virtually all on this forum will agree...

To be honest I think the VFR has lost its way a bit. It's become Honda's technological flagship and routinely gets festooned with stuff you don't want or need; linked brakes, VTEC etc. And every incarnation seems to add weight to the previous one. When VFRs were a sports-biased tourer they were great; and that's probably why I like the Falco so much because it's closer to what the VFR was in its early days.

Just a lot more modern, better looking, faster and with better brakes and handling.

Sounds like you're fully converted to the ARS now Mango!
I would totally agree with all your points, previously had a VFR750, still got the CBR thou, but the Falco covers all angles for me. Multipurpose, comfortable, very reliable and still excites me every single time I ride it, what more could you want in a bike?
Will keep mine as long as I am still riding.

P.S. still looking at swapping the CBR for something else this summer for another second bike. If I do it is very likely to be another Honda, a Blackbird is favourite but an earlyish Blade (94 to 99) or the original VFR800I are still in the frame.
