OK,
I've got a very nice e-mail congratulating me on my promotion to the status of Aprilia Moderator, although I've still lost my points score from the ARS (can't have everything though!)

So now I'm panicking "what do I do with all this power?" and more to the point "HOW?"

Be afraid....Be very afraid (coz I am!!!)

Post a new thread up, make a few posts and play with it, maybe. We're still relatively quiet in here and it wont hurt. :smt001

.... so from what I can see, we've got a few extra buttons at the top of each post to allow us to:
  • Edit the post
    Delete the post
Find the IP address of the poster
.... anything I've missed?

Down the bottom... see the text on the right?

You can moderate this forum

Click it.... :smt002

That gives you the next set of options... check them out, then...

Click one of the threads in that bit...

see! you can split em! Like I did with the one about the calendar...

Find a thread.. or create one.. have a play. Dont worry if you make a mess. I have a broom. a big one... :smt002

Also. Look at any of the first posts to a thread. click edit for that particular post.

Look carefully at that post and the surrounding stuff. there's the option to sticky or announce that thread.

to make those kind of changes, check the little box with a dot, then click save. :smt003

Obviously, take care when handling people's posts so as not to edit them or delete them.

Deletions cannot be undone. You cant just press a reset button :smt002

Now everyone knows what Mods can do, expect requests to do silly things to many threads... :smt005 :smt005

Seriously though, thanks I've had a bit of a looksee and I'll play around with it a bit later. I'm away to Jersey & Guernsey for a few days with work, so I'll see what Andy's messed about with when I'm back

That "Launch Nuclear Strike" button .... can I click it on my own or does F9 have to click it at the same time?
:smt024

Not only do you appoint a couple of moderators but as soon as you do we both pack up and go off on business trips - I'm off to Koln on Wednesday night until Friday night!

I suppose it gives everyone a chance to create some mayhem for us to practice our new powers on when we get back.

The shortcut to the Nuke button is by pressing Alt and F4.

Either of you can do it, however only do it when not posting or editing anything. Try it now... :smt003
