I must confess my strange urges are Harley based. Enough footage on Youtube of tweaked strokers pissing on sports bikes.
I can understand where Jay is at. Im so pissed of with the Falc at the mo,such a nightmare trying to remove the stator to do the sprag, then realising what I need to spend on the forks ect.
The Falc does give me a massive pulse in the pants dept., but one thing is clear....
Loving a Falc aint ever gonna be easy or cheap

Well you might as well consider it if we're looking at a whole host of inferior V-twins .... might as well go straight to the bottom of the barrel

Well it is a v twin I suppose and I have ridden one and the thought of bumming two police does appeal.
I must admit I do like red heads though :smt112

Sorry for the late reply Jay, been pretty busy of late on the house.
Have ridden a Firestorm and a TL1000S (but only briefly).
The Firestorm will be soft and boring after the Falco and I would forget that unless you need something for commuting, (unlikely).
Didn't learn much from the brief ride on the early TLS other than the engine was good, had a steering damper fitted but otherwise standard.
I would look at something different, as two V Twins (or more) will always be compared with each other.
I bought the 9R as something different, it's one of the last model, lighter ones with around 150 bhp at the crank and is ballistic at the top end, (175), but very easy low down, and very comfortable for me.
It's a nice winter bike on poor roads and VERY economical when ridden gently, (had 58 mpg on a steady ride). Problem is that it isn't as exciting at this speed, where the Falco still is with low down grunt.
Have to ride the 9R much quicker for the same thrills, but when up there it will absolutely blitz the Falco, (Can't think what an S1000RR would be like.)
Still keep thinking of swapping the 9R for another bike, and have considered Moto Guzzis, (Norge initially but keep lusting after a Griso 8 valve), also seriously thought about a trumpet Sprint 1050 ST, (which I like a lot), and even a ZZR 1400, (which may be similar to the 9R only faster).
Hope you get something you enjoy!

Good point Howard, Moto Guzzi is one V-twin which hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, and it's sufficiently different from the Falco to make it more interesting...

Yes I did. I found it quite unintimidating? Smooth as silk.
But tbh even though it is what it is its not for me. :smt008
I am looking at a widowmaker, but just waiting for my oasis to be collected.
I have been all the way down to Revs racing this week and talked to john there. I think a wilburs rear shock would be the way to go.

Sorry to jump in here but having ridden both a TLS and various Firestorms (although not for a fair few years) I cant remember the engines being all that different from the Falco. I think buying either of these is just going to be swapping the badge and styling really.

Although worryingly close to a Harley have you considered a Buell? You will probably spend as much time tinkering as you do with the Falco. Its a fair bit down on power (about 85-90) but incredibly fun to ride. They do have their faults though.

Just think you would be more sutiable buying something fairly different than essentially replacing a like for like. Consider trying a Thruxton too for fun, and maybe a Speed/Street Triple. KTM 990 bikes (Supermoto and Superduke) also worth a mention?
