James not at well

I rather fear this is salmonella or similar - poor little sod

(And no am not joking - the moral of the story is to be scrupulous in care of meat)

it could just be a bug but - we will see - either way I am off work today

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

things did start to slow down yesterday evening - indeed, my iPhone was only muttering every 15 minutes or so - but things went silly again

BUT

the mayor insisted that the searchlight be lit to summon the assistance of BADGER MAN

Pausing only to apply more grecian 2000 and to get the wrinkles out of his tights he dove into action

(By dove imagine something like a glacier gently moving towards the sea, but you get the idea....)

anyway, and new improved anti spammer tool is about to be deployed - and having seen some of the images - many here will be talking about the images

No - not the dwarves smut ones that The Hobbit touts - these are of things that are ridden.....

SQUID - stop giggling !

When I was extolling the virtues of the site and its members, I forgot to mention that you were all completely barking!

However, I am encouraged to note that BG is a fellow guardian of the apostrophe and its use. For those of you who think that we're barking, read Eats Shoots And Leaves by Lynne Truss.

I hope the wee fellow is OK, Aladdin. Sounds grim.

Oh no he's on his badger and hair colouring fixation again :smt009

What's more he's added birds into the picture ..... why all the doves?

Anyway, the new defensive shield is raised - let's hope it works (and that genuine joiners can get through OK)

I think i posted before about the kwak 400 owners club?.
You had to show pictures and describe your bike in detail by email before they would confirm your membership.
Also on the bennelli forum it asks you to confirm the amount of cylinders the bike has?
I am not saying do any of the above but surely this will cut down on the leg work after the spammers have got through? :smt017

Jay - I implemented a new "challenge" today. It seems to be working pretty well so far.
We've had a couple of new requests who we believe to be genuine - Pete reckons one is a mate of yours (hmmm .... it let him through :smt017 :smt013 )

It seems to be defeating the spammers at present as the flood of bogus requests seems to have stopped - so I think we've gone from one step behind to at least one step ahead.
I'm not going to say exactly what you have to do now on Ridersite as I don't want to give things away and find someone posts up something that might compromise security (however your mate should be able to tell you) but I think it's a bit stronger than either of those you mention.

Also, I think we Admin don't want to be receiving a load of emails from people trying to establish their credentials .... including a mountain of auto-generated emails from the spam machines (that would almost certainly be able to deduce that they needed to send an email and where to send it to).

That said, thanks for the suggestions but hopefully we are fixed for the time being.

Well I am happy to check some of the credentials of new members. And pass on the info to pete and yourself. I don't want to be a admin, but I have a strong bond to the forum and I am happy to assist in the smooth running. :smt102

Another forum I belong to seems to be getting a fair amount of bogus new members too - some of them are getting through but soon get sussed.
