Bike Value...

#32 Post by GregD-UK » Wed Oct 02, 2013 7:28 pm

Hi all,

Had my bike inspected by an independent inspector today. He said the bike looks excellent :smt003 Alas, he said he would look at glass's guide and see what the value would be. I gave him the list of parts required and the prices off aprilia yorkshire website, which he was grateful for (Less time for him to look for). My bike was insured for £4000, due to the fact I have the upgraded wheels, aprilia carbon sl cans and gilles rear sets listed on my policy.

He rang me a couple of hours later to say that the price he was looking at via autotrader was way below the £4000 mark :smt011 But, he told me that I could argue the fact that these parts are aprilia and listed on my policy. If they offer me a daft valuation, he said he would come back with a further recommendation, if I argued the point back to them.

Sounds like a love 15 to the insurance company at the mo... My return serve is ready :smt002
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

Give 'em hell Greg, you can almost always get them to move a bit, especially with a good report from the independent inspector. Then battle even harder on the buy back for the bike, especially if their valuation is low, for the pre damaged bike, must be worth almost nothing afterwards.

Good luck.

Why don't we all put bikes on for sale at 4500 and get them to search again ?
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Value...

#37 Post by GregD-UK » Mon Oct 07, 2013 5:31 pm

Hi all,

No reply from TC's law firm, so. I guess not interested in my case :smt017 Even though they promised an answer in 2 weeks, like 6 weeks ago! His insurance has valued my bike at £2,300. Salvage is £857.00. So, if I want it back, my bike plus cheque for £1,443.00. Damage came too £2,700.00 for it too be repaired, which aren't doing!!!

Graded as Cat C as well :smt012

Thinking of taking everything off my bike that I have put on and take the cheque, if I can get any more for it as well...

Looking for a new law firm now :smt102

Take it

You can get another falco for 1500 quid, swop bits over, sell cat c on as a track bike or similar....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Decisions...

#41 Post by GregD-UK » Mon Oct 07, 2013 6:48 pm

Hi all,

So, should refuse first offer then! Bike back with £1443.00 and a cat C, how much could I get for it? Bearing in mind, will need some work on it and can't be bothered to bust it and sell dribs and drabs...

Couple of bronze 2004's on autotrader for £2300.00 or so with 12,000 miles average. Mine has done nearly 50,000! Might try and squeeze a few hundred quid and strip my bits off and take the cheque and start all over again with a bronze bike......

I would ask for £1800 + the bike and negotiate from there
