I'd have to agree... Fastest? :smt002

It was actually this or an sv1000 in bronze, spotless. Glad I got this, loads of character and the brakes are fantastic.

Nah - not the fastest - we have a handicap system where we put the slower riders on the quicker bikes so that they stand some chance of keeping up.
Great theory but it doesn't work that well - despite the endlessly vaunted performance advantage of the Crow Black ones, Pete was continually lapped at Mallory.

Also, somehow Keith slipped through the net - putting one of the quicker riders on a fast bike - guess we'll just have to give him a time handicap.

See all this fastest etc stuff? Is this down to the air intakes being of different sizes or is there more to it?

My 01 Falco has an ally tank base plate, first time I took the pump out on a sunny day, the tank expanded in the sun and it was a complete bastard to re align the base plate bolts with the threaded inserts in the tank.
If you are going to do the filter, have a mate give you a hand to lift the tank, the banjo bolt on the return is a twat to undo/replace.
Fit the base plate bolts carefully,a few turns by hand on each till you are sure they are engaged, manual gives correct tightening sequence.
Ive had the pump out a few times but the O ring seal has survived, but if you need to use sealant use the correct stuff, petrol will eat anything else

The original falcos had larger intake snorkels.....

And yes, convincingly lapped by Keef - who lapped everyone bar the two chaps in white power ranger suits and Jay "what corner - oh that corner...excuse me while lie down".....

I did note that no one complained about my slowness as we had a trundle out at the Norfolk meet....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Ye, was sure I read that somewhere...

I've never done a track day, always wanted to but don't have the funds to fix it if I bin it. Which is likely.

That's worth knowing - so do it in the shade/cool then, I guess?

I'm seriously thinking of fitting a quick disconnect like that fitted on the other line. Makes life so much easier.

Manual says Loctite 518 Flange sealant. Available on eBay for around a tenner plus p&p.

Im with you on fitting a QD on the return line, would make life so much easier.
Did look at QD fittings a while ago but was bombarded with detail, got scared with all the info and settled for porn instead :smt003
Seriously, in order to buy the correct fittings I would have needed verniers and a micrometer, didnt do a very detailed search though,eg type specific Falco, mebbee bit too pricey ?

Parkers are good UK suppliers - all fuel hose fittings on the Falco are 8mm, this is what you need:

You will need to fit them with the proper crimp rings for the supply line - around 45-50 psi will blow a jubilee clip straight off.

They are bigger but that does NOTHING for performance (I have fitted them to my bike and there was absolutely no discernible change to performance).
My theory is that they were reworked to quieten down the induction noise to meet regulations as the thing I did notice on fitting the old ones was an increase in induction noise. The quoted output power is the same for all years - I think they just reconfigured the whole intake to retain power and reduce noise. The newer snorkel contains a structure that I suspect is a resonator.

The return is the line that has a QD as standard - though it is a bit fragile and could do with upgrading.
The fuel feed line is the one that doesn't have a QD connector

If that's what brand new roads look like round your way, I'd hate to see the old ones!
