Back to the tax man. Surely they'll be wondering where all this extra cash is being spent? They may have the receipts for the diesel, but the tachos will no way show that that much of the stuff has been used. The VAT people can be right bastards and will close a company down until it's sorted. It happened not long back to a fastenings company we use. If the books don't balance, they'll want to know why. If fuel or anything else is being stolen on a regular basis, they'll also want to know why noting is being done. I'm sure the firms insurance company would like to find out too.

I'm no angel when it comes to 'foreigners'.. But there's a difference between scratching your arse, and tearing it to bits.

The only response from the office is a memo telling all drivers to give mileage when filling up and keep paper reciept to help combat fraudulant use of fuel cards

Now VOSA have become interested in our activities,material is loaded into stillages on each side of the wagon, if you are working a main road then its all single sided loading on the LHS,empty on the other side,un balanced load therefore contrary to the Highway Code

Surely the bosses know what they're doing ?

What I don't understand about this is that, by the sound of the business, fuel use should be a KPI which is monitored by management beyond the bailiwick of your, at best incompetent, at worst downright crooked, boss. So, unless he owns the business, which I very much doubt, why is senior management's radar not picking this up?

This is the bit that does my head in...
The entire management chain know what is happening,they have to know as all our running costs are scrutinized by Head Office.
Every time lorries are drained a mechanic is called out, he turns up with a5 gallon can of diesel and spends 15 or 20 mins getting the lorry running again, times this call out charge by 5 or 6,which is normal for monday, results in mega bill outside of ordinary operating costs.
Recently the Chief Exec was fired after 7 directors were arrested after 'financial irregularities' were discovered

We use KPI'S at work.. Fuel/Electricity/Water usage. TBH fatboy i think you are wasting your time even though this kind of thing is very frustrating.
The upper management should/will know something is not right.
Weather they act upon it with what you have written seems very unlikely.
Unfortunatly greed is not right and is one of a few things i don't like.
What i do believe will happen is something will show up, ie an audit which will show dissimularities and hopefully someone will ask questions and this thing will stop.
People who are greedy tend to take more and more and are just not satisfied and get caught out.
