Flying the wrong airline?

Lufthansa to Berlin - it's the only direct flight from Birmingham so saves a lot of time and cheaper than the flights with a stop.
Emirates to Japan.
Flights take a lot longer having to go via Dubai but they are normally cheaper and the space in economy is better than a lot of other airlines.
Just arrived in Japan. 25hrs door to door.
