But of course it's always too soon!At least you've had 'notice' of his leaving you and you can prepare to a degree, although nothing ever fully prepares you for the loss of a parent, even when you can see it coming.
Not the best start to a New Year - RIP Fredshill

Really sorry to hear your news - I do agree with Mangocrazy
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
Sad news
Youve got advance notice that many dont get and can make that time left special. Doesnt make it any better but I guess does allow you the opportunity to share and create moments and memories.
My thoughts and prayers with you and your family

RIP Fredshill
A few of you know my Dad has been i'll since the begining of the year. He's not been in any real pain but his breathing became more and more difficult in the last couple of weeks and he stopped eating.
Well he passed away on Friday evening.Very sad but we are counting our blessings that he didn't have prolonged pain suffering like my mum did. He had a great life and for 79 of his 80 years he didn't even know who his GP was because he never really had cause to go.
He was a very good snooker player.I could never beat him even at Christmas when I was making him walk round the table til he was out of breath and he still won. Guess how many days it was since he got the bad news till he passed away................................. 147 !!!
RIP Fredshill ( love you dad)

Aside from the formalities of condolences and the like which is all that can really be said at times like these, Im really pleased you shared Christmas with him, even if he did kick your butt!
Nice to see he finished up before he went
Going out on a flawless 147.. Champion stuff! That brought a smile and a tear at the same time.
Here's to the pain subsiding and the good memories coming to the fore. Glass duly raised

Yes, I'm also sad to hear this Dave. It certainly sounds that while he was here he made a real impact and I'm sure will be missed. I know memories are not a substitute for having him there - but at least you do have good memories to draw on.
My sympathies to you and your family.
