Basically a bunch of arse....I worked for Nestle for 7 years and part of my remit was sorting security when the activists turned up. Most of them knew nothing about their "cause" and basically were an ill informed bunch of thugs.

BTW I was not indoctrinated by Nestle, nor would I have any brand loyalty. In fact the opposite.

Most of the criticism comes from ther 3rd world baby milk policy.

the rest of your remit being.......? I'm sorry but I don't see being a security operative giving you access to their deepest darkest secrets.

Do I take this to mean that you are assuming I know nothing about the "cause" and am a thug? Hmmm........ looks like you may be of a similar ilk making such assumptions :smt018

I think this is partially because we seem to be a more lethargic population at the moment. Back in the 80's campaigning was quite a big thing...... read fashionable :smt009

Activists [mainly of the anti-vivisection i.e. animal, type] of the "thug" kind mentioned earlier have also had their part to play in the publics reluctance to get involved. Rather than encouraging people to ask questions before buying from companies it has had the opposite effect with people labelling us all nutters and distancing themselves from ethical issues.

I`d be more interested in your suggestions as to more "ethical" companies as alternatives. :smt001

....mainly because I dont believe such a thing exists.

As Dinsdales post showed earlier it depends upon your definition of ethical, something I find unethical you may not :)

As far as ethical companies go it is very hard to find 100% ethical companies, even companies such as Lush or the Co-op Bank have a dark side so you have to decide what is acceptable to you.

anyhow, I'm sorry to whomever started this thread........ I didn't mean to hijack it

I think it was a very good hijack. :smt001

People know the products, know the tastes, know the advertising bumph when it appears on TV.

Very few possibly know the companies behind them!

Saying that though, Everyone knows Bill Gates's Microsoft and some of the *possibly* unethical choices he made at Windows's start, yet we still buy Windows as opposed to using Mac or Linux... :smt012
