I've got my second set of roadsmarts on the kwak and they've been faultless. It's lighter and less powerful than the Falco but there's definitely more tyre than bike.flatlander wrote:and bought the roadsmarts so I'll let you know how that goes.
Tyre advice please :)

Roadsmarts
They are the only non track tyre Dunlop do for the Falco AFAIK and they gave them at sandbach 2 miles off the M6 so you can nearly have them scrubbed by the tome you get home ;). About 235 fitted the michelins were 185 same deal
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

The new Roadsmarts on my 9R are excellent, no issues at all.
Then again I have to say the same about the BT023s recently fitted on the Falco!
Only funny thing with the BT023s is the line just off centre on both tyres, which goes all around the circumference of the tyre. It looks like a slight indent and got me really puzzled even concerned when I first saw it.
Evidently it's a carbon earthing strip built into the tyre, needed now there is very little rubber in tyres there is more of a problem with static so needs an earth in each tyre.
I didn't think rubber tyres earthed very well anyway?
As for the rubbing new tyres down, I have been rubbing brand new tyres down with emery cloth for many years, still take it steady initially, but reckon this helps a lot.

Can I just
I Change my opinion of thes tyres from neutral in a positive way to so far more than just bloody good !! Couple of hundred miles in and they don't feel particularly sticky like the old macadams did but they have much better stability and grip. It would be unfair to compare them to the Michelin that was on there because that was an old tyre on it's way out but that said I am , so far, glad I chose to pay the extra over the cost of new replacement michelins

Has i am sure you will be aware of this, the rear tyre on a v twin will not last has long has an in line 4 because of the extra grunt from low down in the revs, a small price to pay for the extra grin factorrandomsquid wrote:On the ER6 they last about 8k front and back. But still may suffer a bit on the back of the 150bhp ZX9R.
The Falco got new BT023s, as I have always used Bridgestones on it.
I wanted to see what the new Dunlops were like on the Kwack.

A big 'thank you' to all that replied
I have now put a couple of hundred (dry) miles on the Pirelli Angels and so far I'm really pleased. Combined with the new head stock bearings the handling has been transformed. A pity that I came away thinking that the bike had a few minor blemishes that weren't there when the dealers first took it into the workshop, but hey ho how the hell do you prove it. Thankfully they're nothing too major and only came to light when I washed the mechanics grubby prints off my pride and joy.
Once again thanks to every one for their valuable comments.

Should have gone to Aprilia Performance, no blemishes or grubby finger prints from them, only top service and cheaper than most other places, certainly cheaper than any other Aprilia shop
