Have no problem with Police, either traffic or normal beat coppers. I do get properly wound up with those who seek to be like them.. traffic wardens, PCSOs and those fucking idiots who patrol the highways and at times attempt to appear to do the job of a police officer. The next one of those who abuses his vehicle's fittings in an attempt to look like a Police 4WD, I will cave his fucking head in with a small toothbrush (they enrage me that much!)

aaand rest...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Couldn't agree more, the standard of driving exhiibited by the Police in West Yorkshire is appauling. I have no beef with plod overall and I couldn't / wouldn't fancy doing a lot of what they have to do. But of course its their choice, no-one is forced into joining.

My attitude is, I have zero respect for any of them. Yes I'm sure there are good ones out there but based on my experience they're getting thin on the ground these days

I've been equally pissed off in the past but my lad matt has only had very good experiences with plod. When he was on his l pates he was followed by a police ride. Matt knew he's entered a coule of villages in excess of the speed limit and eventually the copper pulled him over. Then went on to ask him how long he'dbeen riding and complimented him on his lines and general riding, encouraged him to get his full licence and stay safe. Did wonders for Matt's confidence.

He's been stopped once more when he had his girlfriend on and was just advised to make sure she wore some proper gear and advised on the general benefits of hi Viz stuff. Again quite a pro-bike attitude.

...........But I got nicked for doing 90mph , went to court and got 5 points and £335 fine.... buggers!

Generally I've got a lot of time for them.

Although the one on a CBF1000 in plain leathers and a white hat who tried to goad me into a race the other week is a complete and utter arse-helmet.

I think the standard of the recruits - and therefore of those who go on to be specialists such as traffic - is very different from what it was when TC was in the job. The ones I deal with mostly seem to be semi literate at best, then they get almost no training whereas only a few years ago they went to Police College first, then various courses in our training unit, then out on the street with a tutor constable. Now it's a couple of weeks in the training unit then out on the beat. But it doesn't matter cos they are not allowed to use any discretion even if they had it, their every move is dictated from the control room.

In fact I wonder why we have Police officers at all, they cost a lot more than PCSOs and are actually very little more use. Then of course if they do arrest anyone the Crown Prosecution Service tend to make them them let them go without charge, or if they do get to court the judge has to let them go because the rules have been changed and they aren't allowed to give the sentences they would like to.

The few old-style coppers I know that are still in the job can't wait to leave - just like me, thank goodness I'm fininshing at the end of this month!

I had to give a statement to a young DC about a bottle wielding thief who'd fallen over, broken his arm and generally knocked himself about.

I was being very slow and careful and specific just in case he claimed he'd had the shit kicked out of him or similar. He looked the sort who might make something like that up.

The statement that was read back to me was utter gibberish. This quite pleased the other people who witnessed his unfortunate accident. Or it would have if I'd had a clue who any of them were.

Last time I phoned the old bill on behalf of the thieves as I posed more of a threat to them than they ever did to me. They realised that as the door went thru on their top floor flat at 2am. :smt001 :smt005

As for the dibble, it helped that the first officer was used to squaddies and our methods of dealing with things.. and the second officer i dealt with was an ex fullscrew from my squadron a few years back.

When I was stopped on a traffic offence the other year the copper was fine. just listened to his comments, He returned the favour and listened to my side of the situation, had a quick chat about his T5 and went on my way with a ticket and a few points but no ban (which i should have got)

I think i've just been lucky with coppers in the last decade. decade before my local coppers were just complete twats. PC Getley.. biggest wanker on the planet. Used to stop me every time he saw me and still couldnt nick me for anything. :smt003 Didnt stop him from trying.. it was like the Dukes of Hazzard every bloody weekend.

just fancy a wander around in a mini bus

oh - don't forget your nail varnish remover.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
