Well I'd not buy a Mille as I think they are just so damned ugly (sorry Mille owners but they are)

Also you make some incorrect observations:
Oddkid wrote: 2.) Replace exhaust system with the Mille one
Few of us have done this - and while one or two of us have, you'll not find that carbuncle of a dustbin-sized can on the end of mine!
Oddkid wrote: 3.) Replace suspension with Mille Suspension
Forks are the same on Mille and Falco.
The real improvement is in fitting the Mille-R Ohlins kit front and rear
Oddkid wrote: 4.) Replace swingarm with Mille one
Fair enough - the one bit of the Mille that does look better - but also makes fitting the 2:1 exhaust a lot easier.
Oddkid wrote: 5.) Fir belly pan...off a Mille
Hmmm .... well on all the forums I know of less than half a dozen people that have fitted a Mille bellypan. It's not that simple. It is one of my ongoing projects though.
Though I'm not certain what you mean by "fir" .... something to do with evergreen trees ??

Oddkid wrote: 6.) Talk about how much better the Falco is than all other bikes
.... and your point is ?
Oddkid wrote: 7.) Deny you've just turned it into a Mille
Because we haven't.
It still has a better riding position than the Mille, it is still better tuned and geared for road riding than the Mille, it is still infinitely better looking than that munter that is the Mille ..... and the majority of the upgrade parts we have fitted are the Mille-R parts that would also be a significant upgrade for the standard Mille-munter.

Also, you've missed out the Mille-R OZ wheels that make a difference.

So, we end up with a bike that has cost a lot less than a Mille-R but with handling to match, better road manners and that looks much, much better.

..... I hope you have found this educational :smt002

Looks a treat!
Impressed with the RSV end can.......always thought they looked really purposeful..........and sexy, plus the rear light cluster is just so stylish.

In my short ownership

I can honestly day I don't think o would be tempted to fit a mille:
Exhaust when o have 2 gorgeous fuel cans

Mille bellypan unless it was a bargain but then that would apply to other bikes too

Mille exhaust if I could afford ohlins maxton etc so again aside from being a donor bike don't see much use for one

Oz wheels so last century especially in that hideous blue and I would have teal ones if I was doing that

Suspension generally I am quite happy with ot but if an upgrade comes cheap why not it is MY bike after all

Can't say I would buy a mille even if price condition etc were all the same the Falco is much better looking to my taste. Kind of like buying the better option rather than what someone else's idea of testosterone itch told me to buy :)

Mille nah they are well just so ... Common 
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Falco or Mille...

#19 Post by GregD-UK » Sun Aug 14, 2011 2:05 pm

Hi all,

My 5 cents worth, by the most part I concur with alot of the falco riders/owners have previously stated. We obviously all enjoy the aprilia v twin, as too the preference of bike. By the most part, riding a mille can be quite extreme if you are either tall, or of a larger frame. The beauty of both bikes is that some parts compliment and increase the performance of the falco. Lets not forget, the falco is a comfortable almost touring bike. If we can make it more efficient, but, as the same time, keeping the falco ride, then only the aprilia parts department wins :smt002

The seat is 45mm lower, less cramp on the bars, which is fantastic, while still enjoying the throb of the v twin. We should all enjoy it for what it is, a great bike that came under the radar by the most part. I will never part with mine. Maybe buy another bike, but, by the most part, still get a huge grin on my face when I ride it. And when I stop, people just admire the bike (a plus point) and they don't know what they are missing.....
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

If I wanted a Mille I would have bought one. If I want to improve my Falco, then so be it.

In the case of Nooj and others that have gone down the Falcuono route, the Mille parts are also the Tuono parts, so how does that work?

I've upgraded the rear shock, changed my cans to high mounts (as I like them), kept the standard swingarm, as I like it and done whatever else to my bike, because I like it.

Having the freedom to do what you want for your own personal comfort and aesthetic pleasure should not be an issue. Modification, whichever route you follow is an experience that not only benefits the owner, but others by providing new directions to follow.

Ah the great Mille - Falco debate.

I note that there has been a lack of clarification from the Futura massive who clearly will explain how the Futura encompasses all the qualities of both the Falco and the Mille, with added bonus of the wannabe 998 Ducati / Honda VFR800i rear wheel styling...

To be honest i was just causing aggro.

I reckon its a shame not to modify your bike, at the end of the day it is yours and it'd be nice to truly make it yours! I'm in full support, just felt like making trouble.

The Mille is far better looking though!!!!!!!! :smt005

Back in the day (and the day was probably sometime between 2000 - 2003) I definitely lusted after the Mille Factory, as it seemed a smarter alternative to the Ducatis of the day. The Falco had definitely registered on my radar (in a V-twin VFR alternative kind of way) but it was damned as being 'sensible' while the Mille was sexy, due doubtless to its WSBK associations.

Ten years on and the Mille of that era looks very dated, while the Falco has actually improved with the passing years. Bolt on all the best bits of the Mille to the Falco (and I don't mean the swingarm...) and you really do have the best of both worlds.

Which is nice.

Must admit I bought the Falco as a way of getting a sportsbike under the radar of the missus as a it does a passable impression of a sports tourer it just needed in my opinion a few little tweaks to make it mine and having never owned anything standard it wasnt too much of a surprise to her that I ripped it apart.

For me the Falco was a definite upgrade from my beloved VTR!
Big twin, sensible (but sporty) riding position and loads more grunt. Besides which the RSV proved to be just a bit too radical in terms of riding position and performance. So overall the Falco is my kinda bike.....and the more I ride it.......the more I luv it......... :smt002

That swing arm on the Mille does look good though, and coupled with the single end can.....mmmm!

Now all I have to do is get new tyres, new headstock bearings installed, and finally find out how it managed to go through four or five previous MOTs until my local dealership discovered that it still had the continental headlight fitted :smt010 at i
