IIRC it's 62k ohms, but I'll check to make sure.

Great stuff, I'll grab a resistor from Maplin and pop it in.

If you take the top off the switch you will see a piece of tube with a brass ring that can slide from one side of the switcht to the other where the fuel cut out contacts are,
I simply taped the brass ring in the centre of the tube so it cannot move and cannot cut the fuel supply, 10 to 15 mins of work, cost nil

At the front of the void under the rider's seat .... but I don't really know why you'd want to be fiddling about with this - as long as they are properly mounted, they seldom play up.

Seldom means erm seldom, so like any electrical switch they can cause mischief.
Whether it is a case of the tube that the contact ring sits on some how shrinks, allowing it a too easy path of travel to cut out contacts ?
All I can say is mine went from working fine to demon that made me cancell an MOT in around 15 mins of fettling

I don't want to play with it. It's causing the no start message on my dash. It has to go.

Very similar problems to you, worked fine then did not. If the bike was upright then all was good, put it on the sidestand and it would not start, the sliding contact seemed to stick on the cut out contact aand did not want to move to its neutral position.
Remove rider seat, above battery,on left, small black box with silver lid, held by rubber rubber thingy that holds relays/flasher unit to frame, lift out of position, release from retainer, remove lid and tape sliding contact in middle, simple when you see it

I removed the switch and soldered a 62k ohm resistor in its place.

Sorted.

Thanks for the help guys.

Soldering worked its way loose on the resistor?

As I've posted elsewhere, "No Start does not mean you have a tip-over sensor problem.

It means that the bike is failing to start .... for some reason .... tip over switch is one of the possible causes but it's only one possibility.
