THE RESULTS ARE IN !

9 people had a guess - here's what they estimated.

Image

Of those 9, 8 had a stab at the actual number (though bizarrely, the number they estimated didn't always fit into the band that they had guessed in previous question).

The lowest guess was 150 .... by someone who didn't record their name
The highest guess was 3,000,001 .... by "GoomeoNsofone" ?? (who seems to think that this number falls in the band 201 to 300) ..... I have this entry marked as "potential spam" ........

The closest was Falco9 with his guess of 754.

The actual number of emails that I received in that week was 730
..... (though at the time of posting, another 74 have already arrived)

Pete and I haven't really joined in the game of sorting through them all yet - but Sam and Tim have been quietly beavering away at this on our behalf for the whole time the forum's been going (though Spammers have become more prolific over that time).
For each one of these membership requests, the requester has to be checked out to determine whether they are genuine or a spammer and then the necessary confirmation or deletion needs to be made.

So is Tim a big whinge-bag ? .... well I don't know .... but certainly not in this area.
He and Sam are flippin' heroes !!

Many thanks to you both :smt004

The figure is scary - and hats off to Tim and sam

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Thanks, although the praise isnt required. :smt001

I never really look at the figures for how many we get, I just delete them. That was quite an eyeopener to be honest as Ive never sat and counted those emails! That's just one week too! :smt011 I'd love to meet one of these spammers who set the bots up, Really I would.
Im sure it would be quite an eyeopening experience.. well, eye closing, throat choking, nose breaking experience.. for them.

:smt082 Sounds highly appropriate. :smt003

The appreciation is appreciated, but I think Tim and I knew what we were letting ourselves in for when the previous collection of admin mutinied and walked the plank over the same problem. :smt002
