Don't be nervous, I promise to be slower than everyone else! :smt004

If you fancy it, you could follow me round (presuming I have the bike by then). I've done 6 trackdays at Brands Indy and know most of the lines. Reason I want to do this one is that on an unfamiliar bike I will be a lot slower than say I was on my Blackbird, even then I wasn't that fast on that as its a brute round some of the bends :smt005

Good plan. Mind you, I might have a job picking you out with all the others in between! :smt017

Unlikely, I bet there won't be many Falco's about.

Lots of Honda's tho (fireplaces and the 600's)

Good god, as a nervous track dayer there's no way I would have wanted to go to Brands!

Mallory Park is what you want for a first timer, 'The Friendly Circuit'.

I doubt it. What time are you getting there, I was thinking of arriving about 8.30-9.00am.

I notice the retards aren't allowing pictures unless you pay :smt019 to that, I'll have a camera with me.

Timing

#27 Post by Kenif » Mon Mar 19, 2007 11:38 am

Will probably get there early to make sure there's enough time to be really nervous :smt002

The 'no photo' thing is only if it's for commercial/broadcast use. They're ok with normal 'look at that twat' type piccies :smt004

First time

#29 Post by Kenif » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:49 am

Ok, done it, still in one piece! :smt006
Don't think I get rid of the 'Pizza delivery' logo yet though...

Had a brilliant time, managed to find out lots of stuff about the way the Falco handles and have just increased my confidence in the tyres/handling by about 300%! :smt003
Stayed pretty much at the back for most of the time (well, near the back) but the morning was very relaxed and let you just find your way round nicely.

Good bits

Weather - Stayed dry all day
Being at Brands! Sooo cool :smt004
Staying on bike (bit of a relief)
Getting confidence in lean angles, tyre capabilities etc
Paddock Hill Bend
Hailwood Hill
Druids Bend (albiet bloody scary)

Bad bits

McLaren/Clearways - Tried every line known to couriers and STILL never got it right! :smt010
Last two sessions of the afternoon were very mixed ability - Two people were on the track for the first time with an instructor and holding everyone (even me) up. Another two were out doing race-prep with a guide!
Decided to call it a day for the last session (combination of tiredness, rapidily diminishing group of starters after too many gravel-trap incidents and frustration at not being to get round any quicker!)

Overall, a fantastic day out and an experience I'd recommend for really getting to know your bike in a safe(ish) environment

Next time, it'll be on a hire bike, then I can learn to race :smt002
