time to finish "work" for the week, although as you may have gathered most of it has been spent looking for bikes. What the hell, i'm getting made redundant the end of March so screw 'em.

At least now i have some ideas of prices and things to look for.

Cheers

I see on Autotrader there is a Falco for sale at Kawasaki Autorama. I have bought a bike from them in the past and had no troubles, they are part of Padgett’s IIRC and are an Aprilia main dealer.
I think this dealer has recently changed their name. I definately went to have a look at a bike at this address late last year but I'm sure it was under a different name. Its an industrial unit and thay had plenty of decent looking bikes in there but I don't remember seeing any workshop attached (could be wrong mind)

Padgetts are a good dealer (I bought my Tuono off them) If you are interested in their Falco ask for Brian. I've had a look at this bike and its nice but Padgetts aren't known for dropping their prices too far and its up at around £3.5k isn't it? I could definately have a closer look at this Falco for you if it helps?

Yeah I think I vaguely remember a motorbike dealer being located in Buttershaw but I can't remember their name. I was looking around 7 months ago at 2nd hand bikes before I bought the Falco and I'm sure this dealer wasn't around, perhaps they have changed names as you say.

I'm 10 minutes from Autorama and would be happy to look around too! I managed to knock £400 off a Kawasaki ER6N they were selling a few years ago but it took some persuading!

Good shout on the pipes Falco9, don't want to have buy standard pipes on top if i can help it. Although they seem to be available really cheaply if i had to get some as most people have aftermarkets fitted.
Not a major worry - I've got a couple of spare sets that would be fine for getting through an MOT (if you have an officious MOT chap).
Neither are pristine - one set quite rashed but they'd do the job.
(no I'm not trying to flog them to you before you've even bought a Falco - just keeping the info out there)

Had no problem with my Aprilia RC cans going through 5 + MOT's. I've put decibel killer's in recently for my own benefit.

Yes those look like the ones and the blurb sounds familiar. Check you get the right OD as I was too lazy and the the default were too big for the Aprilia RC's . I had to do a little customising of the DB killer to make them fit.

Didn't make a noticable difference to the performance. Sound either but at least I can say I'm trying.......

nice one. I see e does between 35 and 60 mm diameters so there should be something to suit.

I have e-mailed the bike shop with the Falco for more info, depending on what comes back will determine next move.

Smiffy ....when i said listen to the forum gods I may have to disagree with this last couple.......DB killers are made to be taken out and put somewhere untill a time is needed to sell the end cans where upon you replace them and sell them on ........or if the man who does your MOT isn't nice enough to let you off with them out ....

Fitting DB killers ..........NO NO NOOOOOOOOOO :smt011 ...........Sorry Gods !! :smt005

what are these DB killers that you speak of?

(Last MOT i did not bother putting the baffles back in my renegades.... but i do get on well with my tester :) !)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Any use of DB killers would be purely for MOT use not for general.

I had a pretty much straight through pipe on my Z1000 that I had to plug for the MOT. the guy knew seen as he's my regular mechanic too but he used to just put an advisory on the test form.

Welcome to the site, hope you enjoy the Falco!
It's a great bike and very different from the Kwack.
It will feel very different and it takes time to acclimatise to a V/Twin like the Falco after a Jap IL4.
I love both of my bikes but the Falco is still the bike for me!
P.S. The kwack is pretty good as well!

not got it yet HowardQ but i shall definitely be getting either the Falco or the Tuono, although i think the Falco is the one for me to be honest. It's the one i keep going back to each time i look online.

Always liked the Aprilia/Ducati style bikes but never really considered them as thought they were out of my price range, how wrong i was.

Just need my previous insurer to sort out my cheque for the Z1000 and i'll be sorted. Apparently Monday, although they have said that for 2 weeks so far.

Turns out you do get what you pay for when it comes to insurance.

You get it Smiffy lad ? I can't see it.
Just a little bit of advise from somone who's had 2 Tuono's and a Falco. If you do ANY distance work the T is pretty grim, the Falco is a miles better at speed and distance. As much as I love me T the Falco is a better all round bike imho.
Always be prepared for sponteneity.
