Ah - OK. Not knowing precisely what's in the forks is a bit of a concern. And I have to say I found the standard Ohlins spring with the correct linkages fitted to be definitely too rufty-tufty for my pampered derriere... Even with Jackie on the back the spring rate still felt pretty firm.

But it's easy to get confused on spring rates an the like. On my old VFR I was convinced the shock was too harsh, when in fact the poor thing was sagging so much it was bouncing off the bump stop on big bumps, giving the illusion of being too firm. I increased the spring rate by about 30% and bingo! Problem solved.

But I'm sure Griff will be able to sort it out. Definitely a 'man who can'.

The only thing that puts the dampers on the 'grin factor' is the suspension set up. Either too hard or too soft. Skit's or wallows. I can't win. Must be doing something wrong. My 44 year old Triumph 650 handles better!

Please. Someone help.. Before I abandon all hope.. :smt009
Will, pardon my ignorance, but is your Falco standard in the suspenders department, or has it been modded, and if so how?

Also, what kind of weight are you (personal question, I know, but it is important as I'm sure you're aware...)
Ohlins rear shock of the vintage that should have mille linkages - but came with Falco linkages (since rectified).
Showa front forks upgraded with Ohlins stickers on the bases - what's inside is not certain.

Will's weight .... think of a number .... double it .... add a bit more, double it again .... getting close now.

.... and I've been in touch with Griff and put Will in touch and we're heading over soon.
If the forks are still the same ones that were on when I had it, they were std Showas re-valved by Reactive suspension and still had the standard springs fitted, this was done at approx 11k miles. It transformed the bike for me, but I did (and still do) ride at a quick pace, and Gareth set them up for that (on the firm side) but nothing else was altered or replaced at that time. We set the static sag and Garteh made his adjustments, once done I left well alone and just enjoyed it.
I did have some Ohlins stickers on the bottom of the fork legs but I'd be amazed if they were still on now. Mind I have no idea how many miles she done now, I think I sold her with about 15k (roughly) on the clock

This was all a fair few years ago now though

Be amazed :smt004

TBH I don't think there are any real problems with the bike itself - just a case of getting it set up for Will and him tuned in to it.
I'm thinking it should be quite possible as we did swap bikes a while back and he felt more confident on mine - though mine isn't set up for him either.

I was going to have a set-up session with him myself - based on what I'd picked up in general and from Griff in particular but we've managed to cut out the "chap who half knows what he's doing" phase and will get Griff to bring his knowledge to bear.

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I would stick with the 44 year old Triumph or put some air in the tyres of the Falco!

I'm not called "Willopotomas" for no reason. That nic-name was given to me by my mates kids (who were 6 and 8 at the time) a few years ago.. Kinda stuck..lol.. My work colleagues have also called me things like "Fatty McFatfuck".. Nice of um eh!

I'm a healthy 22st. It's mostly muscle and a large bone frame. :smt003

Bike now has around 23,000 on the clock. The Ohlins stickers are still on there..lol.. And as far as i'm aware, Gio didn't change anything in that department. Just the exhaust.

Hoping to get over to see the Griffage on Saturday. Would be nice to have half-decent weather to play in. :smt001
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

Oh I don't know - I think you may exceed me by a long way - there are few other men that would use their prized dremel to trim their beloved.
