And as Alad says.. check and double check the fairing subframe, it's renowned to be made of chocolate when it comes to Falcos falling over

one of us is greyer than the other.....
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

But about the same age..

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

I soooo hate to say this.... but.
If it's written off why not buy it back and cannibalise it for bits? You'll make a few quid. I'm sure there'll be someone who desperately needs a right hand side mid fairing *looks innocently into mirror*

+1 .... or buy it back and fix it up - TBh you should be able to bring it back to close to previous condition and have a nice wadge of cash to spare.

I know we may not appear that different in age but when he does get to where I am in about another 10yrs time, we'll see who is the more grey ....
though he's probably on that Grecian stuff already (and no, I don't mean taramasalata)

Yep, but I might opt to end the Falco ovnership (dodges stone)...
Anyway, bike is being picked up today, we'll see what happens.

I'd have it back and repair then decide about keeping it.
Your choice though.
First thing is getting a good offer from the insurance company if they do write it off.
If it is low, always reject it and demand more, they will always up it a bit. If/when they won't move any more ask about the price for buying the bike back, and sometimes they will move more on this than the insurance value itself. It is just an annoyance for them to get rid of a written off bike, a bit more effort than a car with not too many "legal" ways of getting a good price from scrappers, so this is where buying it back could suddenly be very attractive.
Haggle and see what they will let you have it for. You can always back out in the end!
Good luck with it either way!

Just had a call from the insurers... about £1100 worth of damage, bike will be repaired
Now waiting for a call from the garage about the estimate time of fixing the bike.

Too soon...
Well what do you know...
The estimate I got didn't mention anything about a new radiator... I mean, why bother checking anything under the fairing, let alone read the letter I send which mentioned the damaged rad.
Am I surrounded by blind t****'s?
Waiting again :/

Bike was delivered earlier today...
Good bits: they've cleaned it with a tooth brush!

nice and shiny
Works fine, had it out for a few minutes before nightfall, feels ok (as in awesome), bloody quiet with the standard cans though
Bad bits:
You can see the diference between the new fairing panel and the rest of the 6 year old bike :/, but nothing bad.
Is it too soon to:
