Recently did this same mod to the Fut, and I'm very pleased with the results. Fuel consumotion is, I think, slightly better - possibly because at lower speeds I'm in a higher gear.
However, I've been wondering about the long-term implications. As the engine, & associated components (e.g. alternator), are spining faster at a given road speed, will their longevity be adversely affected - will parts wear out significantly sooner?

Insignificant IMO
