Thanks for the info all... yes the ebay link I posted just seemed to be a sleeve and didn't look anything like baffles I've seen before so they're probably not going to do much in terms of dumbing down the sound!

The busters link looks good so I just called Scorpion and they have quoted £20 for each le with £7 delivery... so are going to be cheaper than Busters by £8 which is a result :) The guys at Scorpion said it'll reduce the sound by 3 or so dB which, if I understand it correctly, is quite a lot when you're over 80dB or so.

So delivery within a week and happier neighbours!

Now to just remove the "Race Use" and get a "BSAU Approved" sticker :smt003 :smt003

On my Akrapovic cans the 'Race use only' notice was stencilled in to the riveted bands on the can ends. Mark (my exhaust chappie) simply drilled out the rivets, reversed the bands and riveted them back up again. Job's a good 'un...

the renegades i have are a little more oblique - "competition use"

doesn't say only :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

dB is a logarithmic scale - IIRC 3 dB is something like a doubling in noise, so a drop of 3dB will be a BIG difference.

Not so sure about the stickers etc, you may find it better not changing it, if you get pulled you can point to the baffles, if you point to the sticker you may be done for trying to mislead.

Indeed 3dB will be a doubling of the power - however it won't sound twice as loud as the ear does not have a linear response.

Neighbours will be happy then!

BTW only joking re: BSAU sticker... what I'd like to do is somehow polish the race stamp on it off at the very least... it just removes suspicion (and of course ride with baffles in).

I have Scorpion race cans which are a bit loud. The previous owner fitted BS stamps on them (off ebay) and they actually went through the MOT! So I'm not too concerned of being pulled. Would prefer less sound though.

I ground out the "competition Use" and no bafflkes and no padding either. Plod doesn't even look.

I'm gonna have a go at polishing it out with some fine sandpaper (1200+) and see how I get on ;)

Done one of the exhausts... basically grit 600, 1200 then 1500 and plenty of autosol... and repeated... need to buff even more but can't be arsed now! May need to buy a buffing wheel and some more polishing compounds but we'll see. There are still a few little dots to sand out and I'll sort that out again.

Here is before and after... easier than I thought it'd be :)

Couple of hours with lots of distractions, so I reckon an hour solid... she still needs a buff but it was easier than I thought :)

Yep,

Recently fitted them to my Aprilia Carbon Race cans. I didn't specify a diameter and the ones that came were too large so had to be modified to fit. Any ho they don't seem to make a big difference to either the noise or the performance. Certainly not much difference noise wise at idle maybe a little quieter when wound up. I can't say I notice any drop off in performance I suppose if I get pulled at least I can say I'm trying.....
