Hi Rick and welcome, which ever you do buy you will not be disappointed, it is a lovely bike, different to an IL4 and it might take a bit of getting use to! but stick with it and you'll be rewarded with miles of smiles :smt001 :smt001 :smt001 oh and get used to people asking "what kind of bike that mate" as you will be joining a fairly exclusives club.

AJ's does look like very good value, as someone who has spent a lot on modding a stocker, save yourself the hassle and cost and get one that's had the 'must aves' done.

Hi Rick,

I just noticed this thread and thought I would throw mine into the arena too.

It's 2001 (Y) black with 19k miles. I have owned it for over 3 years and put on 13k of those with never a missed beat. It's been fully serviced and has new chain and sprockets (Renthal/Tsubaki). The condition is excellent IMHO with just a few small scratches as you would expect from a bike of this vintage.
12 months tax and MOT till Sept.

A few mods...
Beowulf Oval stainless cans (plus originals)
Dark Smoke screen
Clear lens Tuono style indicators
Gold Radiator grills
Honda VTR sidestand mod
Smoked Rear light lens and LED bulbs
Pillion seat

I also have the official Aprilia tankbag and panniers which we could come to a separate arrangement over if you were interested.

Bad bits.... New tyres will be needed soon

All this for only £2200

Yup too expensive for those miles and that year unless it has a lot of decent mods.
I bought my 2001 Y reg, 6 years ago this summer in a private sale for £3000, it had 6k on the clock and was in A1 condition with FSH.
I have to admit it was a good time to buy, as it was before the Pegaso take over and there were some concerns about the future for Aprilia, but I took a chance and dived in waving money under the blokes nose, dealer price then was £4k plus.
Find a good one, buy it, you will not regret it!

would need shock imho but.... tidy :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Fausto just beat me with that post, his is an excellent bike in the best colour, bargain!! (could be some bias here)
Don't know AJs bike but that sounds very good as well. Both of these would be better choices than the one you mentioned IMHO.

Another vote for either AJ or Fausto's bike - far better value for money and knowledgeable owners. Plus most of the mods (with the exception of a shock on Fausto's) have already been done. Either/both are bargains, IMHO.

.......in for a penny then.....

thinking of chopping in my 05 Falco against a ZZR14. Its black and bronze (oozes class :smt001 ). 16K up, full service history, new rubber front and rear, just refitted the OE shock after the white springed mille shock blew a seal :smt010 , OE shock has less than 1000 miles on it (white shock comes too). Side stand modded (VTR), colour coded belly pan fitted, clear rear lense, MPL clutch slave, Wolf race cans, scottoiler, single seat converter....

......prise it from my sweaty paws :smt003 :smt003

Hope you're all gonna enlist your new owners to the site. :smt002

I'm very likely to be the owner of one of these guys bikes... so at least one new member has been recruited :smt001 :smt001

Good site btw... I am a member of a couple of other forums but some of their styles are difficult to get the hang of... but this one is very easy to use. :smt003

Thanks for the positive feedback and welcome to the Site. Im sure youll find plenty of things of use for when you find your new ride. just dont disclose your credit rating to our resident Falconeers.. They have a uncanny knack of separating good honest bikers from their cash, transforming their nice standard sports-touring Falcos into nigh on powerbike championship winning machinery with bling to match.

Whatever Falco you go for, whether from the lads here or not, first thing, check the sidestand has been changed from standard, if it hasnt, do it straight away. Everything after that is purely up to you. They have lists.... big long lists....
