Ah .... well this ACF50 keeps the bikes from rusting using a mixture including some strange voodoo - so it's bound to upset the balance of your tyres .....

(you didn't mean the puncture safe did you?)

I've still not accepted the term .... Satellites don't need that type of navigation system!
But I guess I hate this media created term most as I've been developing the things for the past 14 years - They were cutting-edge back in the day - now a bit "old hat".

I heard this from mate who does my bike fixing/fettling, also that tyre companies charge more if there's gloopy stuff in the tyre? Will need some good info to persuade him otherwise. Is there lots of explanatory/convincing literature?
Never known a bunch of people like bikers for refusing to accept anything new, so slow to change, why is that?
put a 'as used in xxx race' sign on it and they'll buy anything.

If tyre companies charge you more because you have sealant in and are making noises about it being difficult to clean up and impossible to balance, they are lying and ripping you off, go elsewhere.

You don't need convincing literature you need first hand experience. Me and Debz have easilly done a hundred thousands miles between us with the stuff in over the last ten years, including cooking in the south of France, freezing in the alps, numerous trackdays, years of commuting and even drag racing at the bulldog bash with no noticeable effects, EVER.

Sounds like your mate is another one stuck in the past, unwilling to accept that things have moved on in the last 30 years. This isn't the agricultural grade stuff that was around in the 70's that should never have been put in cars or bikes, which is what earned tyre sealant a bad name, this is 21st century thixotropic chemical technology specifically designed to out last the modern tyre's life and cope with the heat and forces generated within a tyre by speeds of up to 150mph. That's why it's £25 a bottle, not a fiver.

It doesn't dry out and ball up, it isn't sticky and toxic and it won't unbalance a properly balanced wheel in any way.

Well I'm willing to give it a go, (I've decided it'll be my birthday pressie from the dragon :smt002 ) It always worries me on long solo trips, especially motorway distances, that I may get a puncture.

One of my mates recently had her rear Transalp tyre blow out on the M6, took weeks for the repairs to be done to her bike, luckily she was OK with only minor bruising, but it scared the crap out of her.

Luck of the draw really, you could go for five years and never get a puncture, then one day find yourself sliding on your arse under a truck.
