Because Dave has mentioned it, how about Sunday 18th April for the Newark meet then?
Hopefully I'll get there on 2 wheels this year - wayward motorists permitting ....

Not sure about that particular weekend though - 2 of my sons have their birthday on 17th April (no they're not twins - 2 yrs apart) and I'm guessing that I'll be expected to take the family out for Sunday lunch on 18th.

On a more serious note, same weekend last year was pretty good.
If anybody fancies another run to Willingham after Newark, I suppose we could fit one in!

No - 1st August actually ..... and the first son was born 14 weeks prematurely and the second 5 weeks prematurely (and the third was 5 weeks premature as well BTW).

The maths don't stack up I'm afraid ....

ok folks - time to revisit this thread....

looking at end of july for a possible meet - somewhere with overnight camping and a local hostelry

somewhere reasonably central to all

thoughts and ideas please folks?

There's a cracking site close to Newtown in Wales. No hostel close by, but plenty of B&B's in the town. Just a field with a stream at the bottom, toilet and provision for a good size fire (the landlord encouraged a fire as he's loads of wood to get shut of..lol..) No bar or wash-up area, just the field. Take your own cooking equipment and sound system.. well away for a good weekend!

Let me know if this is something to be considered, and i'll send the link. Oh, there's also off road go-carting, paint-ball and pony trekking available (all would need to be booked in advance) :smt004

Going back to the original suggestion, there are any number of good camping spots in the Ashbourne/Buxton area, and some fine roads nearby as well...

We're away the weekends of 11th and 18th July, but would be definitely interested in 25th July. Arre we still thinking about tying this in with the Darley Moor race meeting or not?

Can't offer any suggestions on sites/venue but still interested in joining everyone depending on the date.

i think that 25 july had most interest before - and that would be my preferred date - but really calling for ideas

i think criteria is somewhere reasonably central in the uk - so derbyshire or close is probably about right

is just an over night thing for the saturday i think - but with option for those who can/want to be there longer

and if there is something close by to go to for the craic - cool....

Call me Mr Presumptuous but I seem to remember that last year Keith was dead keen on us visiting him out in the back of beyond (well Market Harborough area), camping in his extensive grounds and chilling around his fire pit while we enjoy some bevies together.

It didn't come off last year but if people are keen and Keith is up for it again, the location is still in the Midlands and, looking at the map, it seems very central (though, from time to time, we ought to try to fit in some things that are easier for some of the less centrally located people too).

1) Keith, would you still be up for this?

2) What do others think?

No idea at present whether I can make it - we're meant to be going on a family holiday for the first time in years but the dates of that are not sorted yet.
If I'm here, it sounds good to me.
