I declare everything - and once I've agreed things verbally I send them a list.
Usual thing is they won't replace mods directly - just replace with standard parts - but as standard parts cost more than what I'll have paid for pre-owned OZ, Ohlins or whatever, I'm not bothered.
That said, having thought about it, I probably haven't bothered to mention the tank pad and a few decals.
The other thing I do is add a note as to why things have been added ... usually things relating to improved handling etc for safety or to improve the smoothness of the engine to improve rideability (gearing changes and PCIII etc).
So far, nothing has been in a quest for outright power - which is true.
Not saying that it may not have improved that too - I really don't know - it certainly has not been what I've been trying to improve.

MCE .... though I'm not over-happy with them ......Olig7475 wrote:who do you insure with Andy?
Once my accident stuff is sorted I'll be looking around elsewhere.
They don't do bike insurance at the moment (though they are talking about it).Aladinsaneuk wrote:Think he qualifies for Saga.....
My Saga car insurance renewal has just come through and I've worked out that the premium before any discounts has risen 23% this year - that is really taking the p**s. I'll be asking for a clear explanation of why that's the case and looking elsewhere too.

just renewed my insurance with www.directchoice.com £84 fully comp 49 yr old 4yrs no claims living in aberdeen mods declared (cans, mille swingarm/white shock, hugger, bellypan)
So mce came to my insurance rescue.....£280 FComp with national breakdown recovery & personal injury included, for a 34yr old with 1yr no claims, full bike license for a year and 6 points living in Nottingham (bike kept on drive). Also their policy on mods is good in so far as it doesn't effect the quote as they don't replace them or the cost of them if the bike is damaged / stolen they just replace 'as standard'.
At least I'm back on the road and not too much poorer.

do you get a discount for crash bungs to help save your bike on a lowside ?
They are classed as accesories- the insurers i've dealt with over the years do not load any extra premiums for them.
Ive never been quoted less for having crash bungs either, but there is a school of thought that in a particular accident they may do more harm than good- i.e possibly ripping /damaging the frame/engine casing where fitted.
(I hope I'm not involved in that particular accident!)

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
