I guess shorter journeys would be more bearable, but 45 miles each way in temps close to zero were definitely not fun, even with heated grips and handlebar muffs.
The thought does occcur to me, Andy - if the car doesn't warm up on the journey to work, is the bike warming up sufficiently to burn the condensation off from the engine oil? You don't want nasty emulsion type stuff building up in the engine...

Yeah - it gets up to normal operating temperature before I'm halfway to work - also the oil has always looked fine.
