Mirror blanking plates...

#16 Post by GregD-UK » Sat Oct 31, 2009 5:16 am

Hi all,

Thanks D-Rider for posting the pics for me :smt002 Yes, they are very trick and actually work, the mirrors that is :smt007 The grips are rizoma as well, very, very, trick :smt003

The top one is 7mm, same as the bottom one, but, look too thick. I have spoke to my fabrication expert, and he is gonna shave off 2mm and put a 3mm shampher on them. That should sort out the pleasing look.

PAYMENT:

I will accept cheques, strictly payment by paypal ONLY if you have a valid bank account attached to it, NOT if you are using a credit card attached to your paypal account. Thanks...

looks good especially the Rizoma pots - Santa will need to be told about those !!!

When I was blanking off my mirrors to move to bar-ends instead - for spacing the underside of the fairing out I simply used some 3mm thick industrial rubber sheet I had from somewhere. I just cut 4 plates out and built them up + it dampens the screen vibes down a bit as well......

Just dont ask what I was doing with rolls of rubber sheet :smt005

Cheers - Frank

Greg, are the grips and bar ends fitted to standard clips ons on your bike? I would like to keep my R&G bar ends with them if possible. How do the Rizoma bar ends fit if you do have standard clip ons?

Echo D-Riders comments regarding the reservoirs, very trick.

Bar ends...

Hi all,

Yes, I have standard clip-on's, they bar ends fit into the threaded end, and you have a threaded bar with a piece of rubber, that when you tighten the bolt end it collapses and makes the rubber tube expand and grip on the inner side of the tube :smt002 You could use your R+G bar ends no probs fella :smt003

Thanks for the update Greg, Look forward to receiving them. Just ordered a set of Dynamic Rizoma mirrors from cjmoto. A US company selling bike accessories with full Rizoma range. All postage is free. Might be worth a look. The mirrors from them worked out about £30 cheaper than anywhere else I could find.

Hi all,

Yes, blenks they are a good site, as long as the customs man doesn't sting you for import duty, vat, and a handling fee for shipping :smt012 I got stung for a pair of levers from the USA. And once they have your address in the system, anything else you buy, automatically flags up a charge :smt010

Can you pm your mob number blenks, need to have a chat, some good news kinda :smt004

PM sent with number.

I have been stung once before following a purchase from the US. I have only ordered one mirror and adaptor and once that has arrived I will order the other. If I do get mugged for import duty it will be less and spread out. Thats my theory anyway. The total cost of the order is just over £50 so should'nt be too bad.

Mirror blanking plates Update!

#26 Post by GregD-UK » Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:08 pm

Hi all,

OK, after seeing the great finished article in resin :smt003 One of the company's that I sourced who do CNC aluminum work, actually returned my drawing with a reasonable price structure :smt002 Suffice to say, dependant on anodising cost, the new proposal maybe an aluminum mirror blanking plate ontop, a 30mm round rubber 3mm insert (for hole in fairing, to stop and bending of the two plates when tightened) and an 7mm resin lower plate to replace standard plate off original mirror housing.

So, apart from blenks, who has paid up front, any takers? So, I can propose to the CNC guy and anodise shop rough numbers. The more interested the better the cost is for all of us :smt003

PM interest, cheers...
