Indeed - I'm not a BMW man
My first bike was a Cagiva Canyon 500 which I really liked and enjoyed - they do a 900 version which has the 900SS engine which I personally think is a stonking bike - but I don't fancy Ducati-alike servicing or reliability. The Cagiva Navigator is essentially the same bike but with a TL engine so I reckon that would be pretty good as a Capo alternative. My only problem is I'm only 5'9" and I'm not convinced big trailies are what I need to tour on, given the circumstances that I laid down the Falco. Hence favouring a Fut.
Hmmm.

I'm not sure I'd want two of the same bike either! It just seemed an interesting idea for a real Falcophile. I have two different bikes at the moment and there are times when I find the differences frustrating e.g. the indicator and horn switch positions. With two Falcos set up for specific tasks, a lot of the characteristics would be the same. I would probably go for a Caponord as my tourer.Having said that, the Falco is pretty good especially with hard luggage. Aah! The dilemma.

I bought a Capo a couple of months ago as a touring bike to go with the Falco. So far I've done a weeks tour around the far north of Scotland and it fitted the bill perfectly. The engine isn't a match for the Falco due to the lower state of tune but 200 miles between fill ups is not to be sniffed at. On the typical roads you have to put up with round here though I don't think there is a lot of difference speed wise between the bike because of the suspension on the Capo copes with the bumps better (my capo has upgraded suspension while the Falco is standard). I rate the Capo (as long as you are not put off by the enormous seat height) and I like the contrast between the two bikes

There's some good Futura buys about at the moment on MCN & Bike Trader. Also, RobC and SparkySpark on the AF1 Futura forum are selling their Futs. How much would you spend, if you could?

What it will mean is I'm going to have to look into chipping and power commandering the Falco in the spring

Futuras are quite amenable to tweaking, too - PCIII/TuneBoy, airbox/boot kits, exhaust systems, lighter flywheel, shocks, RSV forks . . .

Same as the Futura, I thought - 820 mm. I don't find the Fut too high.

How does it compare with the falco, heightwise?
Cheers for your other posts on the topic though - alas I won't be buying until the Spring.

With the setup I have (Helibars, heated grips, Ohlins, OZs, Givi box, Bagster tank bag) it made the perfect touring companion. Uber comfortable and simply amazing on the continental twisties. Also, we all did pillion tests on the other bikes and my mates rated the Falco pillion to be the best of the lot (against a Sprint, VFR800 and R1100S).
Why don't you get something sportier for weekend fun? The sportier the bike the bigger the fun, innit?
