The Race-Tech fork tool is available in the UK (can't remember where from), but it ain't cheap - about £140 I think. You'd need to do a lot of forking (or be desperate) to make the cost worthwhile.

Quite so. But seeing as it mainly appears to be some box section steel, I'd fancy getting a copy made for a lot less...

Excellent stuff. That's the angle of view I was after. It really doesn't look too complicated at all (but then the best ideas never are)...

Is that travel from rest, or from fully extended? I would have thought the 125mm would be from fully extended to fully compressed, so you can't use it all on compression only as you need some of it for extension when going over a rise. 25-30mm, is that your travel from load (i.e. the bike under static sag only)?

125mm is Aprilia's quoted figure for front fork free travel (i.e. total possible suspension movement from full extended to fully compressed).

My 25-30mm figure is the amount of unused travel; i.e. the amount of fork slider visible beneath the tie-wrap I have wrapped around the fork leg. I would expect a figure of around 10mm unused travel, bit others reckon that 25-30mm is acceptable.
