Must be contagious - some dozy bint ploughed into the back of me at a roundabout in Salisbury last night.

Fortunately I came out of it a bit better off than you - I stayed upright on the bike so was unhurt. Bike is OK on the whole but RH exhaust can now looks like a Coke can that someone's stamped on and a bit of damage to paintwork and an indicator - overall very lucky.

What pissed me off more than anything else was that I was on my way down to Poole Quay for the bike meet and had to turn round and go home again.
Racing is life - anything before or after is just waiting.

Really sorry to hear about this, suppose you are probably "lucky" to be alive!
How can people be driving with no bloody concentration at all. Hope you manage to get yourself sorted and your back is OK, sue pants off him regardless. All you can do with the bike is buy it back and salvage/sell what you can.

I nearly had a similar experience in the car on Friday.
With the wife, off on trip to Sainsbury's, sat on a red light at the main crossroads with the A57 in our village.
The two roads either side of the A57 have mixed lights with different greens to allow both side roads diffeerent right turn prioritys onto the main road.
White tranny facing me waiting to turn right, with me also waiting to turn right. Lights go red on A57 he flashes me to say turn first, but I can't as still red on my side. I flash him, he starts to move forward slower than normal. Lights go green on my side I start to move forward again edging forward hesitantly for some reason as I am turning right.
Lights have now been red on main road for about 8 seconds, me and white van man for some reason still wary look up and stop when a Belgian registered artic flies straighjt between us a few inches away at around 45 mph!
This is a major light controlled cross roads in a built up area, which is a 30 limit.
If we had just both moved across to turn right as normal, me the missus, and white van man would be dead for sure, a side impact at 45mph from a 40 ton artic gives you little chance. Chased after the truck as he was going my way and watched him for 5 or 6 miles to Worksop, the bloke was either drunk, drugged or almost totally asleep at the wheel,
wandering over the road seemed seem to be totally unaware of where he was or what he was doing at roundabouts. Never really got a clear view of his plate other than it was Belgian, so could not report him, (assuming anybody would have been interested).
How the F do you allow for something like this bloke or the one that hit you?

Laying flat in bed feeling sorry for myself.I have to wear a body brace whenever sitting or standing. Been for a walk around town but its knackering ! I am going to sue, but just discovered i didnt tick the legal cover box, so I have to cough up initially. A mate in the met (drug squad) says he thinks the due care charge is better for insurance as d & d means he would technically not be insured, dragging the whole process out. Whatever the problems, I need to take this as far as possible as it could be a life changing injury. I definitely wont play football again, but bikes are still in my mind. The wife thinks I'm mad, but 26 years of riding means a lot. Cant give up because of one dozy twat. Let you all know the outcome, and thanks for the goodwill messages.

...no disrespect to the serious theme of this thread, but I couldn't resist: the mental image of a cross-junction face off between a bloke in a frock and the undoubtably masculine HowardQ, during which they 'flash' each other - albeit out of context - has got to be worth a giggle. 'Tranny' has an altogether different meaning where I come from. :smt003

Go on then have a snigger, point taken! :smt003
Hope you get better soon Becks, get back on your feet and back on a bike when you can.
Over the 40 odd years since I passed my bike test, I've given up biking and come back a few times, but couldn't stop now whilst ever I can still ride.

Hell Beckh - at least it's the bike that's dead and not you. Best wishes for a quick recovery. Good luck with the case against the driver.
