interesting comment - how old are my parents tweekie?
Haven't a clue Snapie - the comments just reminded me of my parents when I was listening to Hendrix, Cream, Who, et al and I figured most of us have heard similar comments about the music we liked. Always swore I'd never make derogatory comments about my kids taste in music - of course, I sometimes failed dismally there :smt020

are you being serious? That contrived rubbish passed off as 'Rock'? Its so intentionally clichéd with gruff lyrics and glammed-up pop riffs... yuck. Just MHO of course :smt003

I find the new Keane pretty good... but currently Im rehooked on Rage Against The Machine... a reminder of my student days.

though fabricated, Duffy has a good voice

The Ting Tings are good

Adele can sing

Coldplay were consistent if you like their thing

Fleet Foxes, good stuff

The Coral continue to impress me - if you have not heard of them go get their 2 cd compilation best of....

as a long time downloader, or thief as EMI prefer to call me, there has been very little new to acquire this year

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

My votes go to Fall Out Boy and the Ting Tings :smt004

But to go with the Leona Lewis example, the video to 'Destination Unkown' is wonderful. Its like soft porn with a beat! :smt007

Absolutely serious :smt016 I think the lyrics (well, most anyway) are pretty refreshing and far from the sugar sweet 'One song fits all' mainstream pop. 'Glammed up pop riffs? Really? Must listen harder to some of the current bland bands and re-educated my musical ear then :smt002

On a different note (pun intended!) did anyone else watch the Jools Holland thingy on New Years Eve? I was deeply disappointed with Annie Lennox's performance, along with Martha Reeves and the Ting Tings - they all sounded pretty bad to my ears thoughg most of the others were excellent.

I saw most of it and can't say much of it impressed me. I was looking forward to seeing Duffy after all the fuss but she was weak - looked rather nervous so maybe she can improve, I tried to leave the room whenever Annie Lennox was on - never liked her.... at all.... not one little bit...oh no. :smt009

Back to the purpose of this thread. Not much support for the current crop then. Can,t say I am suprised as most of us on here are shall we say over 30. As mentioned earlier it's probably an age thing but I was hoping that someone might be able to highlight something new that I hadn't heard and that would blow me away.

Oh well - at least the back catalogue is nice and cheap :smt003

Yes I was deeply disappointed with the Hootenanny, Jools Holland usually has good stuff. Saw a bit of the Elton John thing too, and thought he sounded awful as well.
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

I'm liking the Killers, Katy Perry and Pink at the mo and must admit to a penchant for Take That (second time around) :smt034 :smt003
