leave my pipe alone

(interestingly, my smoking pipes are all FALCOns..... i rest my case :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

yeah we might be "old gits" ...but my brain thinks I'm still 20 !! ...and all my bikes are fitted with aftermarket cans ! ....not for the hooligan factor or for anyone else's ears, but because I like the sound, they normally run better, and it helps gets the red stuff pumping round my 50 year old body :smt003

Bloody hell is it only me helping to tip the average in a downward direction??? got mine 2 years ago at 32 and can't see any reason to get rid of it (shamefully I have tried a super duke and a new 1050 tiger which were both nice but not the falc :smt003 )

That got boring so at 61 I now ride a Triumph Sprint and a Falco.

Maybe at 71 I'll move on to a Daytona 675 and RSV-4.

No matter your age....If the cans are too loud, you're too old :smt003

Nope, you're not the only one - bought mine four years ago at 26, don't turn 31 until January :smt003

There are younger owners on the site, but can't remember who...must be old-age setting in :smt005

I am at the tender age of 29 (bought mine a year ago) and now starting to realise why everyone keeps telling me I have an old fart's bike (slightly better than my previous SV - girl's bike)

I also noticed at MOT time last year that the bike seems to run better on the stock cans but I can't bring myself to stifle the amazing sound that comes out of the back of the beast (to use a Clarksonism, it's sounds like Brian Blessed on the verge of an orgasm). I also noticed that putting in the optional baffles didn't seem to make a lot of difference to the noise level but made it run even worse. I am just slowly accumulating a bit of a slush fund with which to acquire a power commander when SO2 Domestic isn't looking

This thread has cheered me up somewhat.

I thought I was pushing it when I bought my Falco aged 49 and 3/4.

Its encouraging to see so many others still enjoying their bikes into their 50's and beyond.

As for a Saga type insurance - I think bike accidents buck the trend with older riders more likely to have a spill though they tend to be born agains as opposed to my situation which is never gave up.

I bought my first Falco when I was 42. I got that thing well sorted and enjoyed the RSC cans. I don't think the neighbours were that keen, particularly when I left the house at 0630 to catch the boat... I sold it eventually and bought a Futura as the other half wanted to get on the back all the time.. I put Befs on that. After I crashed it I bought a Honda CB1300 which I got bored with and bought another Falco as a second bike. The CB was hardly ever ridden after that and was sold. I have had the Falco with the Carbon Cans for coming up 2 years and have re-chipped it and generally fiddled around with it but to be honest, I don't see the race cans going back on. I am telling you all this as my biking age has gone up and down over the years but now I just ride the things and worry less about the noise I am making. Whatever I have done to the bike it seems to run happier with the stock exhausts. It might be the custom chip I am currently running, but she is pulling smooth and like a train.

I will have a fiddle with bar options. Its no biggie for me. The difference between the Triumph uber-comfy set up and the Falco makes me notice the bar position like I never used to. Its either that or old age....

Hey F9 I did wonder if you were over last year. I will be here, barring disaster for TT 2009. I am usually committed to marshalling for the whole 2 weeks but I am thinking about having a year off next year, so I might be around more. Plenty of time yet, but lets meet up. I expect Louise will let me out for a drink! BTW, it is her that is putting years on me, not the bikes...

You're not alone. I'm 22 :smt004
Love the falco, so it really cant be an old mans bike can it? My last bike was a GSX1400. Now that was an old mans bike, and far far far to heavy for me, and it had so soul!
As for after market cans, ive got leo vince's with the baffles in. Sound deep and lovely, but not too loud. Perfect for me as i leave early in the morning for work (I dont own a car, bloody cold in mornings i tell ya)

Nah - not an old man's bike .... just that a lot of us have been young chaps for a lot longer than normal
:smt003

Maybe it's the type of blokes that ride them, maybe the Falcos help us to stay that way, maybe it's a bit of both
:smt004

or maybe I'm just talking bollox ... but it would be nice to think there's a grain of truth .....

Sorry for the late post - 53 and had the Falco 2 years, and put loud cans on after 4 months. Took them off because they were too loud for Manchester (too much Police attention), and lost them in the move to france. Bought some more out here as the police don't seem to give a toss as long as you've got a hi-viz jacket. Don't want to take the dB killers out just yet.... doesn't help the tinitus (age related)
Haven't taken the bike out for a number of weeks due to a snagged groin! (Age related thing I think!)
So it's not seen as an old mans bike as such, just lots of old men riding them!

Salut
Peter
