OK - time to 'fess up... I am now the proud owner of a Brand New (as in 0 miles) Anthracite/Flamingo Red Aprilia Falco. I picked it up on Saturday from MMC in Leigh and took it home. In the van. So it didn't get wet.

As far as I'm concerned it really doesn't get any better than this. All my anger about getting stiffed for the Falco in Dunfermline has now gone. The guy actually did me a favour. Had I bought his bike I'd have missed this one.

It's a pretty unbelievable set of coincidences, really - a 2004 Falco sitting undiscovered in a warehouse for 4 years finally gets discovered and Paul Walker (Aprilia UK Brand Manager, Falcophile and all-round good egg) gets the opportunity to buy it. His wife then proceeds to talk him out of the idea and he reluctantly puts it up for sale in the MMC showroom. A guy then posts the sighting up on another Aprilia Forum and D-Rider spots it and posts it up here.

I spend a neurotic weekend waiting for MMC to open up on Monday morning, and ask them to hold it for me. Monday afternoon sees me haring across the Pennines from Sheffield to put a deposit on the bike and (hopefully) seal the deal. After the previous disappointment I wasn't counting my chickens until I finally got my sweaty mitts on it, but it's definitely mine now. Several large glasses of Red were downed on Saturday night in celebration, I can tell thee...

Thanks to everyone who assisted. You know who you are...

So I assume youve asked them to do..

1. RSVR Rear Swingarm conversion
2. Sidestand conversion
3. HID Headlight Conversion
4. Scrap the standard cans and fit something decent with eprom to suit
5. Rip the Restrictor out and cut the wire
6. Rene Airkit mod
7. Repaint it in fast yellow

...before you pick it up?

lol, grats and welcome

and why would he want a clostridium yellow bike kwack?

and I consider that list a start.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I've already got a list of things planned (not quite sure in which order yet...)

1. Get spare standard swingarm (ex-Nooj) powder coated in Satin black to match frame. (This will get fitted over the winter). Not tempted by RSVR item, sorry...
2. Replace standard shock with better one. Fancy a Technoflex, but MMC can get an Ohlins for the Falco for £121!!! Bargain of the century...
3. Sidestand; probably replace with a GSXR, although I'm open to persuasion as to the merits of the VTR stand
4. I really fancy a full Rene system, but will need to save for it. Worth it, though.
5. Definitely fancy the HID dipped beam mod, with a pair of Osram Silverstars replacing the main beams. That setup should strip some paint...
6. Get the fork sliders Titanium Nitrided and put some progressive fork springs in. Prolly get the forks revalved while I'm at it.
7. Yellow - nah. I got the bike I want in the colour I wanted; why would I want to do that? I have enough yellow-ness in my life with my ex-AA VW van.

That little lot should keep me going for a year or so...

As happy as a pig in poo then?

May be cheaper to wait until some Ohlins forks come up on flea-bay or in the AF1 shop.
