Didnt the camchain tensioners or something go on them repeatedly necessitating a stop at the side of the road? Im sure I read something like that when I was researching the 400/4 (when i was going to rebuild the one I ended up offering up to Gio)
No not really - probably the least troublesome camchain I've experienced on a Honda. Certainly never had to stop at the roadside LOL !

Lovely little bike, the engine was a peach and was very reliable.

One day I'll get round to putting it back on the road ......

OK then. Answers time....

First a big well done to D Rider who got 12 / 12 . (well... 11.5 / 12 as the answer given for Q2 was a little vague)
Kwackerz did well too but someone had to come 2nd :smt003

1 = Yamaha RD350 LC
2 = Suzuki GT550
3 = VanVeen OCR1000 Rotary
4 = Honda CBX1000
5 = Moto Guzzi Griso
6 = Yamaha RD400
7 = Buell RS1200
8 = Yamaha V-Max
9 = Triumph X75 Hurricane
10= BMW F800S
11= Honda CB400
12= Moto Morini Corsaro 1200 Veloce

I particularly liked D-R's comprehensive answer to the LC350 and I agree about the mudguard but it's not easy to find good photos of totally unadulterated LCs

Thanks Fausto - I enjoyed that.

BTW Just out of interest, do you know of any sure-fire way to tell the GT380 and 550 apart (other than the side panel markings - or stripping the engine down)?

There again a certain element of chance in a quiz can't be a bad thing.

I really must get my finger out and put a quiz together - don't think I've done one since we moved the ARS over to here.

Wouldn't that cable be a speedo drive? No room for it on the front wheel due to the bizarre double sided dual cable drum brake get-up. Later disc brake models allowed a front wheel sensor arrangement.
My picture seems to contradict this - crossover period??

Just an educated guess :smt017

I have no idea how to tell 380s from 550s other than the reaction you'd get if you whacked open the throttle on each :smt003

FOUND IT !

It's the tacho cable (not sure where the 380's one comes from)

The 380 has a 6-speed gearbox whereas the 550 a 5-speed box - so crank case and gearbox arrangements are different - presumably giving rise to different tacho take-off locations.

Here's an article comparing GT380, 550 & 750

I was right?

Damn and blast! Missed an easy point there then!! :smt005

Knew I shouldve said 550.. :smt012

That was a great quiz btw. Many thanks for that!

from that Suzuki link for the GTs..

'So wide is the power band of the engine that the actual ratios are unimportant as the rider has his choice of two gears for about every situation'

Nice!!

I might have got half right, the dead easy one was the CB400.

I know feck all about kwacks/suzuki's as I never really look at them.

Whens the next one?

I'll try to have a go then, if I don't feel so crap :smt012 :smt010
