have you checked that you can import the cats? We dont take bio security seriously here but they do so in both Oz and NZ.
Is it worth importing the cats as opposed to buying new out there?

AHEM.
If we couldn't take the cats we wouldn't go simple as. They're all 10+ and in good enough health to make the journey but wouldn't enjoy new minions to boss around. They would all have to be rehomed together and not many people will take 3 oldies on at once. I also don't believe in rehoming animals unless absolutely necessary. I made a commitment to the animals we have and I intend to keep it. the only "pet" to be rehomed will be the snake. They all have problems from previous owners, one has one eye, one is missing a hind leg and one takes fits so again they wouldn't find homes easily. Not to mention........... they're family and much much nicer than people

It's one of the first things we checked. Silk, my snake is going to be rehomed, which is a shame but she wouldn't be allowed in and she is 23 yrs old so not sure she'd enjoy the journey either. Neither would my bees so they are going to a new home, any budding beekeepers on the forum like a nice calm and VERY productive hive of bees? The dog is going to stay with my Mum until we get sorted house wise and the cats will go out with us. One thing that alot of people on the forum have said is that having familiar things around you really helps the settling down process.......and pets doubly so.
As long as you have checked, thats the main thing. I dont begin to understand the logic of your cat decision but I guess I never will.
And its nothing to do with me anyway, so good luck on your move. I'm sure you wont regret it and your timing is right. With a 70 billion B of P deficit it wont be long before the £ starts to devalue, interest rates have to rise to counteract it, and maybe even the govt go off to the IMF again. So sell your £s now
