A bus is a device invented for Pakistani/Indian/Dark coloured people, they are the only people who know how to drive one (Suicidal 3rd world maniacs), which brings us to the bus lane!
They can't drive in ordinary lanes as they are unable to associate with normal people.
Bl@@dy H~ll Gio - are you doing press releases for the BNP now ?

Not really, I'm drawing on my experience of bicycle riding in bus lanes.
Seems to me its daft banning motorbikes in the bus lanes as they are faster than bicycles, which of course are allowed to delay buses quite legally. This is of course specially noticeable at traffic lights, when buses use any dirty tactic to stop a cyclist getting in front of him. I had one particularly nasty argument with some P*** who tried to crush me against a car. Good job bicycles don't have number plates.

You seem to have confrontations whatever you drive Gio.
Did that used to happen with a pram too? and supermarket trolleys?

I can relate to Gio's problems with buses when you are cycling. Bus drivers have got to be some of the most inconsiderate drivers out there (and I've not noticed the standard varying with ethnic origin).
It may be a little while since I cycled regularly but the number of times a bus would pull away while I was cycling past it were countless. You can deal with it on a (motor)bike - twist the throttle that bit more, sound the horn etc.
On a bicycle you are only left with hammering on the side of the bus.

You could always have gone 'ding-a-ling-a-ling' on your bell?

I found going 'doolally' on the side of the bus to be the better solution.

.... the Milky Bar Kid rides into town .......
get yourself a spud gun for those really tricky situations
Have you tried clipping a card to the frame with a clothes peg - they make a great noise as the spokes hit them as you are riding along - they sound a bit like those motorbikes that the grown-ups have.

Well ive emailed Cambs Highway dept to find their stance on the subject. Theyve done a lot of decent research into traffic congestion in and around cambridge, hopefully their well thought out views and research extends to motorcycles.

the County Council is not seeking to make any changes to its bus lane restrictions to allow use by powered two wheelers. Whilst other areas are going down this route, there are concerns that such a move in Cambridge in particular could undermine safety given the very high levels of pedal cycling in bus lanes.
Concerns?
Could?
High levels of cyclists in bus lanes?
What complete and utter rubbish!
I shall reply thanking him for the 1.5 minutes his answer took and ask him for any references to surveys or research. Possibly with a FOI request.
I originally emailed their traffic congestion dept. however they passed it on to someone else who then in turn passed it on to the bus lanes bloke.
I feel completely fobbed off by the answer.

.... that's because you have been.
Can't say I'm surprised. I do think we need to keep pushing the local authorities but until we convince the Government to sort out a positive National Policy (rather than our policy is to leave it to local government), things will be piecemeal at best.
