I'm afraid I must be starting to show my age because I have recently developed a whoreish attraction to Port.

And olives.

Now, where did I put my pipe...?

Indeed it is, dumb money now though if you want the 1990.

Bobbi I know you would love it, regardless of the supermarket specials, which to be honest are not the deals they would have you believe.

Don't patronise, Peter! I know what I like to drink and I buy it when it's on offer.

Seems perfectly understandable to me !
Try your port warmed a little, by the fire. This works well with almost all types of port, the cheaper ones can be vastly improved with a small splash of brandy.
I'm sure you will have fun working your way through the range of everyday,Late bottled and Vintage.
Port, another bloody good British invention !

Rather partial to a drop of port myself - preferably with a bit of St Agur rather than Stilton, oops heresy!

Have you tried goats cheese with warm honey drizzled on top, Bobbi? Absolutely more-ish...

And I know what Gio is saying - if you try a taste of the 'good stuff' you don't need to be a connoisseur to apreciate it!

We've got a place in the South of France and bring back bottles of good value local wine. Most of this stuff never even gets out of the region, so you won't find it over here. When I offer non-wine drinking friends a taste they say 'I'm not really a wine drinker' or 'I'm not a connoisseur', but as soon as they taste it they say 'Ooh, that's nice!' :smt003

We had a wonderful wine-tasting session when I went to France with a club I belonged to - about a dozen of us, we all bought different priced wines at the supermarket and found that, depending what order you drank them, the ones that cost about 50p were pretty good if you'd drunk enough! (that gives away how long ago it was, oh dear!)

And yes, I do know the good stuff tastes good - that wasn't the bit I was having a go about! (I've known Peter a long time btw)

Having read replies to this I'm now a bit peckish....
fancy St Agur over Stilton nine times out of ten.
Goat's cheese, thats a bit like tyre choice, NO NO NO.
But that is just me, no goats will be facing unemployment as a result of this opinion
