Ball Bearing...

#16 Post by GregD-UK » Thu Jul 02, 2015 6:57 pm

Hi all,

My clut,ch lever was quite spongy and tried to scource a new seal kit for my m/c. Alas, couldn't source one, so bought a ducati 999 complete m/c. My question to the all knowing is, should there be a ball bearing on the end of the push-rod, that sits in the slave cylinder?

apologies for jumping on the post, thought it was relevant :smt003
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

Suggested repairing the existing one in the 3rd post of the thread - we have all the details for replacement seals in the tech section on this forum ..... but an additional supplier is always good to know.

I don't recall there being a bearing on the end of the push rod, but it was a while ago and i didn't take pictures, so i could be wrong.

I thought you were commenting on Dave's original issue until i clicked the link (clutch slave seal). Maybe Andy did too :smt002.

When yo did your M/C did you rebuild the whole thing or just the seal? I'm thinking of rebuilding both of my M/C's, if you know anywhere that does rebuild kits that would be ace.

Just the seals - the bore was fine although a bit gunked up.

I couldn't find any rebuild kits so I went into the bearing shop with the old ones in hand and they did the rest

Road test yesterday and all is well. No fluid leaks overnight and I do think the lever action is a little lighter. All good.

... oh and it looks ace!
