Any progress is good progress :)

FYI a much simpler way to check the fuel is to take off the filler cap - its only held on by 4 allen bolts (the other 3 on the cap are shorter and don't screw into the tank). Shine a torch in there and you should be able to see how clean the inside of the tank is and whether there is any particle/water contamination.
