Sorry for your woes. As it's just coming up to time for dinner, I'll have a glass of Palo Cortado with you. Hope the problem is resolved soon and without too much hassle.

I think you'll find that wiring gremlins affect them just as much ......

Continuing with my hijacking/sabotaging of Andy's thread, I do believe I might have fixed the coolant issues. I had to revisit all my original handiwork(!), re-crimping and re-tightening as I went, but I followed the Griffmeister's advice last night and this morning the garage floor was unpuddled (is that a word?)

Griff basically told me to undo the main filler cap on the RH side of the engine (i.e. NOT the expansion tank), run the engine up to temperature (topping up as needed) and then turn the engine off and refit the filler cap. Let the engine cool down completely, top up again as required and you're good to go. And it seems to have worked.

So the bar tab is on me, and I'll drink to Andy's woes being as easily fixed as mine...

Might have fixed mine too. Unfortunately it's a "can't be sure" but what it looks like it might have been the problem could potentially cause those symptoms. Now a case of stick it all back together and ride it on local trips enough to rebuild confidence it's fixed or to have all hopes dashed again.

Good luck Andy. let us know how it goes, and what you did to find/fix it.

Well I only finished putting it all back together the night before last (including doing a couple of extra minor modifications).
I'm currently in the verification stage to evaluate whether it's fixed. I rode it to work and back yesterday and in to work again this morning. Running fine so far but too early to say for sure that all is well.
The thing I attended to might have been the cause or maybe I've jiggled the harness about and a dodgy bit of wiring is now more reliably "connected" ... for the time being ....

I never did manage to observe the problem while I was investigating it.

I guess time will tell.

OK .... the acid test .....

Hardly had any chance to ride the bike last week as I had the week off work so no commute or other excuses.
Nevertheless I did have a quick ride on Sunday and then to work and back yesterday and today - I even took the long way home tonight.

No failures, hiccups or stumbles so far - in fact it's running nicely.

Therefore I'm pushing the boundaries by posting up here to suggest it's fixed.

Making that statement should tease-out any lurking issues (unless it decides to store up a surprise for a late-night journey, miles from home in the pouring rain ) !
