Thanks once again for the reassurance all.
Having checked the manual this bit only has 12Nm of torque applied, so no fear of damaging the toolkit tool. Which, by the way, I measured with a Digital Vernier guage, and it measures 13mm across the flats!
story now is i fitted an ebay sourced replacement swinger. Rear wheel and silencers back on tomorrow, then out for test ride and (weather permitting) Oulton Park for BSB on Monday!
My world will be back in equalibrium once more.
Out of interest is this likely to fit? Straight in no re-drilling. Can't get the damn URL to paste in. Its the lower fairing section from a 2003 Mille.

Back together again.
Just back from a shake down ride after putting it all back together again. Whilst apart managed to release my baffles from the Fuel cans she wears. Apart from the increase in sound, which is now much more as it should be, the engine feels smoother! Am I imagining it, probably not, as she can now breath properly. Also ticked over her 25,000th mile.
Roll on Summer 2015
I've just noticed on this post (Swing Arm removal by Blinkey501 https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=12391) that there are 2 springs on both of the exhaust headers in the photos. Is this normal or was somebody being over zealous because they had spares? I only have a single spring connecting headers to collector and collector to silencers. Great post that buy the way, wish I'd read it through more thoroughly before pestering you all with repeat questions! Sorry!

The two springs are not normal, this is how the bike came to me?FalcoDaz wrote:Just back from a shake down ride after putting it all back together again. One spring should be ok

Tolerance will be our undoing.
