If anyone fancies a little DIY job instead of buying a stand here is a copy of an abba stand, the locators will need redesigning to suit an aprilia.

I highly recommend the headstock stands for the front of the bike. They are a bit more fiddly to locate (and you will need to cut a hole out of the plastic headstock guard if you don;t want to remove it every time) but they are so much more stable, and have the added bonus of being able to remove the forks easily.

For the rear, i used to use one with paddles but it never felt particularly safe, especially if the alignment is off. With the bobbins, its much easier to prop up, and you can even give them a fairly good knock without the bike falling over.

I also have an abba stand but haven't got round to actually using it as of yet.

Regarding the paddle type stands, I tried one on the Falco. didn't like it. IIRC there's stuff running under the swingarm, meant it didn't sit right, and I was concerned about pinching the cables and breaking something. Bobbins I say.

It doesn't really need one - with the size of those crash bars he has on there, it only leans a couple of degrees before it's resting on them

Centre stands are great for maintenance, but they don't half complicate exhaust routing; which is why most modern bikes don't have them.

Not a problem as long as bike designers follow these three golden rules :

1. Two cylinders are quite enough.

2. One exhaust per cylinder (though a link pipe/balance pipe is permitted).

3. Nice shiny stainless/chrome pipes should not be hidden away.
